Title: Another loss of Hatchery Fish
Post by: duckmen1 on March 02, 2022, 08:19:41 PM
3.5 million chum salmon lost due to flooding and debri at Hoodsport hatchery. This is becoming to frequent at our hatcheries. Generators going out after power outages at a different hatchery in recent past, now flooding, etc. Pretty common these days that we are loosing fish at our hatcheries. Gonna be another big hit to our fisheries. Not long ago it was snake river steelhead. This is gonna see another effect in our future.

Chum head to saltwater immediately. If flooding was imminent, why not just dump them to survive on their own?

I think it was around 40 statewide with another 15 or so still waiting to hear about exemptions.  Doesn’t count all the ones that quit.
