One of my favorites, is the Steiner PX4I 1-4 x 24 variable. I love this scope. Some extremely clear glass, and a reticle that just plain works for me. It has been my go to SFP variable for a few years now.
I got to play with a Steiner M8Xi 1-8x24.
The M8Xi 1-8x24, is in another world in clarity (and price @ $3,500) but damn what a sweet scope.
I received a screaming deal on a brand new Holosun HS512C today.
Casual look, I love the reticle, should work great for CQB.
The battery has a 50,000 hr. range using just the 2 MOA Red Dot or 20,000 hr range using the 65 MOA (Ring of Death) and 2 MOA dot.
Water proof with enclosed emitter.
It has 10 Brightness settings with 2 NV settings.
Shake awake, and auto shutoff, adjustable from 10 minutes to 12 hours.
Also has auto brightness adjust going from light to dark, works pretty darn well.
Bright and clear class. With a fail-safe solar panel, for use in lighted areas.
The only draw back so far:
The integrated mount, uses a tiny Torx Drive to tighten the mount. That could be beefed up. It has a distinct blue tint, and it is made in China. They normally go for $350 - $425.
I just mounted it tonight, and will take it for some "run and gun" range time later today and provide a review.

They advertise as being paralax free. It does have amazing ranges with no paralax. I think there is a touch of parallax at the extreme edges, but not enough to cause an issue. And one of the most parallax free scopes I have shot. It is absolute co-witness with the integrated mount. It came sighted in at 25 yards. The solar assist is a novel idea that works well indoors or in shade. The reticle becomes nuclear bright in bright sunlight, and can wash out targets from 50 - 100 yards out. I placed my hand over the solar panel and it made the reticle much easier to see the target down range. I then turned the solar off, and re-sighted it for 50/200 yards zero that I prefer.
What I liked, when shooting man sized targets varied in ranges from 10 - 50 yards it was extremely easy to hit center mass shots and head shots. Metal plates I was consistent and accurate. The reticle is similar to the Eotech 512, with a 65 MAO circle with a 2 MOA dot. This combination excels in CQB situations, at least for me.
It is extremely fast to get on target.
All in all, the Holosun HS512C seems to be a solid option for a Reflex Prism, with it's huge eye box, very clear glass, and especially if you want a multiple reticle options, you can have either 65 MOA circle, 2 MOA red dot, or 60 MAO circle and red dot. Shake Awake is also nice. At roughly half the cost of a Aimpoint, makes it a solid option. Holosun packed a ton of features into the HS512C, at 8.1 oz. it is fairly light.
I am not going to say it is combat proven like Aimpoints, Trijicons, and Eotechs, but a solid option in a decent price point.
Oh, and it is drop proof, I pulled a big piece of stupid, and knocked my AR off the stand I was using, it hit the concrete right on the upper left corner of the sight. :yike:
It held zero, but it has it's first battle damage with a little nick where the paint is now missing. :rolleyes:
