Title: Halibut fishing
Post by: gutsnthegrass on March 25, 2022, 10:53:10 AM
Does anyone know a good guide to go out on a halibut trip with? My wife has been wanting to go for several years and I thought I’d start looking into it.

Thanks

Lots of options depending on what you want from the trip.
Westport, Neah...big water most often rough.. lots of fish
CQ more forgiving. Less fish
I wouldn't pay for a trip inside of CQ.

Big boat..aka cattle boats out of Westport like the gold rush, tequila fleet etc ....keep first Hali you catch...15-20 lbs is average .half the people on the boat get seasick.
Express style boat's..aka 6 packs ..All Rivers, Far corners, etc...out and back faster. Can be picky about size.

What's your preferred boat style and port of exit/ weather conditions and I can make some specific recommendations.
