Title: SALMON-ella!
Post by: castie2504 on March 31, 2022, 08:53:47 PM: The springers are starting to show in the CR. I’ve been known To catch the Salmon-ella several times in the spring. Had to take a few days off of work to recover :chuckle:, if you catch my drift!

Anyone else catch this during the spring?

Post by: HntnFsh on April 01, 2022, 07:47:12 PM: 2 hours on anchor and 2 hours on the tro;; today. Never saw a net fly. Talked to one boat when we put in that said they got 2. Talked to another boater that started at 7 and saw 3 lamded. Out of Willow Grove. At it again in the morning!

Good Luck on the CR Springers. Definitely something special about that first fish of the year!

Post by: Mfowl on April 02, 2022, 07:31:14 PM: Pretty dead at I5 today. Trolled the first 5 hrs w/no bites, only saw one net. Anchored for the bottom of the tide 1-5pm and managed a fish just after 3PM. There were a lot of boats early but they thinned out quick, sign of no fish. There were a few less sea lions than last weekend. Will be in the Kalama/Prescott stretch for Sunday.

Post by: Mfowl on April 03, 2022, 05:57:33 PM: Rough go out of Kalama today! No bites trolling or on the hook. Saw 2 nets. Stiff breeze made it tough in an open boat but it did not rain on the water! Fish checker had 7 for 25 boats at 3pm. Very slow for the final weekend of the season! Good luck if you get out before it closes!

Post by: castie2504 on April 03, 2022, 07:27:59 PM: Hit Drano this morning with my little guys. Saw 6 or 8 other boats, didn’t see any nets fly. It’s still quite a bit early but beats the hell out of yard work. Wind and rain picked up about 10, little dudes got cold so we hung it up and had brunch.

Its a blast for sure you should get after it. I mostly bank fish unless I am in Canada. I think it probably took upwards of several thousand casts before I caught a wild steel head. I think the wild ones fight harder and smarter than the hatchery but who knows.
