Want to drive over and do this, this weekend. If anybody has some "hot" spots they would be willing to share that would be totally awesome! Feel free to PM me...

There are no digs this weekend.  What beach(s) are you looking to hit?  The clamming was lights out Tuesday and Wednesday at Mocrocks and Copalis.

All beaches are good and have healthy populations. I don’t think you will be disappointed if you go to the north beaches or the south beaches

There are no hotspots. It's fairly obvious. Just watch the 1000 other people and you'll figure it out fast.

We do a lot of "prospecting" for Razors, and some spots are WAY better than others.  No different than hunting or fishing for anything else.

I sent you a PM with my top secret locations.  Both of them produced easy limits this week.  Except for the intermittent hail squalls on Tuesday

The wife and I are going to Long Beach on the 16th for razors.
We have never done razors before but have done other clams and watch plenty of YouTube vids.
I’ll will gladly take any tip or hot spot recommendations anyone might offer.
Thanks.
Andy.

use your light as low to the sand as you can.  I see many with headlamps, but if you put a light on a stick or on your shovel you can get closer to the sand dimples and throw the shadows out farther.

Morning digs so you won't need a light.

.
Be on the beach early.
Put a bucket on the roof of your car so you will be able to see it.
Usually I am one of the first ones in the beach, but by low tide it's a huge parking lot.
.
 :twocents:

Wander the beach at the wave line and look for "shows"...
.
Once you start seeing them, they will be all over...
.
Usually I walk for about an hour, get my limit in the next half hour, and off the beach before it gets really crowded.

Mech you can start finding clams about hour or an hour and a half before low tide.  You don’t need to wait till low.  Once you find one you will usually see many in the same area.

If you would like a tutorial or someone to show you how to do it just send me a pm and you can park on our house and go to the beach with us.  We have our own access and are right between two access areas.  You are more than welcome to join us it’s not too hard.

Another tip is to make sure you get all the way down by the water or you'll be digging up a lot of sand shrimp.

Chowder, fritters, dip ect... was thinking Razor clam civiche, just not sure about eating clams raw?

We got more clams than we knew what to do with.
Our best plate was the fried clam burgers.

I'm a lazy cook so here is my favorite, easy but good.
Grind one limit plus about a half onion together. (How much onion you use depends on your taste for onion)
Mix them up good and crack a couple eggs in, remix.
Add enough cracker crumbs to form a dough that you can form into balls, golf ball sized works best IMO. Little bit bigger is good too.
Heat oil in pan at medium high.
Cook the clam balls until golden brown on the outside. You'll have to roll them around to get an even brown on the outside.

Clam fritters

1 box   Costco dehydrated hash brown,  rehydrated
Equal amount of razor clams  6-7 each
2-3 slabs onion rough chop  plus/minus
Salt
Pepper
Garlic 2-4 cloves  to taste, yours
1/2 cup flour +/-  depends on how wet
2  eggs
Optional   Panko  to dry out mixture

After the hash browns are ready   Dump into food processor.   Rough chop clams add to f/p
Add onions   Blend till medium chop.  But into bowl add eggs salt pepper flour and panko( if used)
Mix to thick blend
Spoon into skillet with 1/4”+ oil fry till golden brown

Who does not like hash browns and clams!

Good eating

I haven't had clam fritters since before the Mtn. blew!  We have a place on the Willapa side of Ocean Park, so we go dig clams pretty much every chance we get...we have a few limits in the freezer, and about 25 or so jars of smoked canned, so I'm thinking fritters sound like a great change.

My wife has settled on broiling them in the oven, as it's real quick, and the clean-up is quicker.

All great sounding recipes . Ive made a alot of variations of these over the years .

A couple contributions  i will make is use green onions instead of "regular"

Another is Razors and pasta . Both white sauce and a light marinara .

Hard to beat flour, egg wash, panko though .
