If you got a levergun in your safe that's gathering dust & like to have some fun I'm inviting you to join us at the Custer Sportmans Club range in Custer, WA. A few of us got together last Sat (Apr 9) for the 1st match of Cowboy Centerfire Silhouette. We shot calibers last Sat like: 30-30, 32-40, 35 Rem & even a 45-60 (plus 45 Colt & 44 Mag). Some used the original models made in the 19th Cent although most of us used the later generation models made in the 20th Cent. Period-type sights to include original open, receiver or tang-type rear sights. Globe front sights OK. Cast boolits only & shoot'in off your hind legs. Usually 2 relays (partners) shooting timed fire (10 rds) at each of 4 stations (chickens 50 yd, pigs 100, turkeys 150 & rams 200). Firing a total of 40 rds (+ a few sighters for pre-match warmup).
Arrive at 0830 & help setup/safety brief & start the match around 0900. If you haven't had enough then a second match for those who want to stay after lunch. Don't have to be a Custer member. $ 10 total cost. Basically we're there for some safe fun & trying to beat last month's score. Not to confuse w/Cowboy Action, just bring a lever action carbine or rifle, eyes & ears, comfortable clothes, don't need running shoes.
If interested you can PM me or email our Match Director, John Asmudson at Jhasmud@comcast.net. Online preregistration req'd.
BTW, match dates: 14 May, 11 Jun, 9 July, 13 Aug & 10 Sept. 12 Sept possibly a turkey shoot. Custer is a bit of a stretch as it is less than 10 miles from BC border. I-5 270 offramp...go east about a mile. Hope to see some new faces! Canadian shooters always welcome. Bruce

Does it have to be a repeater or would one of these old pieces work. It does have a lever :chuckle:

Sweet look’in Hepburn! I only saw one other about 5-6 yrs ago out in Tonasket. He called it a Remington Hepburn. Love the quality of workmanship & the clever design. Bunch of us used to meet there every year to shoot dingers. Started out mostly Marlin & Winchester leverguns. Later there were rollers, highwalls, Ballards & Sharps. Good time had by all. Shoot’in off sticksfrom 300 to 1000 yds.
Talked to the range director...you & that Hepburn are welcome. But that a bit if a distance plus a ferry ride, right?

Ya it might be a bit of a drive. It is a Remington Hepburn #3 in 38-55.
