Had a few surprises this season. I caught 3 coyotes in cage traps. I was targeting bobcats but the coyotes couldn’t resist the bait. Pics to follow don’t have enough service to post now

Looking forward to the pics man

Sweet not easy to do!!!
I caught a couple when I was a kid in cages. They were very young or on deaths bed/in a bad way.
I'm going to build a couple clever traps this summer to see if I can cage them more often. Will be an interesting experiment.

I have caught 6 in cages in the last 6 years. I got two this year in one of Bruce’s older single doors in the same location about 3 weeks apart.
-
What size is the cage?
-
That’s awesome! I felt like they would be almost impossible 👍 never tried it but have caught a lot in footholds
-
Pics. I will measure tomorrow but about 10-12 x 18 x 40. Quite small for a coyote

Last day surprise. Second In this trap
-
Also got a couple cats. Really nice color on this 25 pound Tom.
-
What type of bait were you using when the coyotes were trapped?
-
Good job on the yotes , healthy ones too !! Great Westside cat
-
Thats awesome
-
I was using beaver. They never seem to go for the fresh meat. Always old dried up piece.

Cool stuff! Thats a pretty cat for sure.

Congrats!!! on the coyotes!!! and the beautiful cat!!!
I know there are coyotes around here and so far they have not gone into cages for me. I never thought of dried out beaver as bait. Maybe like jerky?
When there is snow, I don't find cat sign, lots of canine, racoon and opossum away from Scatter Creek. Would love to catch a bob cat.
I did catch something that didn't like it. I'll bring the trap to the Ronde.
Thank you for showing us it is possible to catch a coyote legally in a cage trap.

I start with a fresh piece of beaver and for some reason if I get a coyote it’s an old bait
