Title: What are your points totals??
Post by: trophyhunt on May 06, 2022, 06:59:12 PM: Maybe I was a bit bored, lol. So I counted ALL my point totals from every catagory from my WDFW account. Count ALL, even the categories you can’t use till later in life, or not at all (youth, disabled, 65+).

It says I have 189 for Washington but it doesn't count the worthless points. my total for all states is 696. Just added up all the oddball Washington points and got 317.

Remember odds get worse every year so if you didn’t draw last year you likely won’t draw this year…….
so with 27 points, my odds are 40% for the bull catagory I might apply for, and 10% for the other bull permit. 3.3% for the quality, won’t say which ones but west side rifle and muzzy. I could be applying for many more years…

I moved to the state 11 years ago and am up to 39, all in deer and elk, and haven't drawn anything yet.... at this point, I'm just hoping for a cow elk tag within my lifetime, or at least before I up and leave to a state with better odds :chuckle:

I wish a pool of tags always went to the top end point holders to increase their odds. I am not sure if that would WA's system improve while still having a chance with 1 point but it's crazy to think people invested decades and still only have 3-4% chances on oil tags. Population goes up......... tag quota's go down........where will we be in 10yrs?

there is no good point system that's works well. A hybrid system that gives top points holders x amount of tags while the others go randomly off points might make things a little better but not much.

My son is still a youth so we put him in for everything we usually do. Daughter and I just did quality deer, and I put her in for a second deer. Was hard to get motivated to drop the $$ this year. Another motivator to save money on tags, we have a delicious looking Simental steer heading to the freezer in July.

That’s pretty dang good.

My dad drew goat with 7 points a couple years ago… it can happen.

I think I’ve consistently put in since 2008

3 spring bear
1 quality deer
1 quality elk
1 bull elk
1 antlerless elk
A couple second deer
