So a friend is a gun Smith. He builds some amazingly accurate rifles , and they look pretty dang nice too. So any how. This gun was called a boat anchor and wouldn't shoot no less than a 4in group. So if your gun action screws are only finger tight instead of 65 in lbs, it won't shoot. The rail was not even on right or had bedding under it from owner or friend. Long story short this gun shot way under a inch with first fowler round with no load data. Here are the pics.

Amazing how things work when someone in the know sorts out another’s lack there of.
The rifle went out as new. It was called garbage and a boat anchor by the tinkerer. Tinkerer claimed it wouldn’t shoot under four inches.
The rifle was returned to the smith by the owner not the tinkerer.
The Smith Removed the dented NightForce scope due to over torquing
The scope rail was loose
Scope rail screws stripped out
Action screws for a .300 RUM @ 35 lbs
Barrel fouled out.
Corrected the above issue.
The picture above was the first three shot group from a completely clean bore @ 100. The owner is happy as a clam. Can’t say much for the tinkerer.
The group was shot with 210gr Berger’s, Retumbo , new brass @ 3167 fps. From a 7.5lbs .300 RUM.
With a little seating depth tweaking this boat anchor, piece of garbage should shoot fairly tight.

Factory ammo? 100 yards? The other thread was interesting, if a bit confrontational. Can you give us the entire story......you mentioned "gun action screws" and the "rail" but who did what to make the fix.
-
Very nice shooting! Who should we contact if we'd like to have a custom rifle built like this one?
-
The smith did the fix. I helped with the load and its going to drive tacs. If I had factory ammo I would post a group but can't find any.

That scope was supposedly mounted by the smith. I’m not sure if that is true but that is what was told to me. The scope rail did not look like that and the action screws were checked for torque.
Now you can sling mud all you want…..I really don’t care what you guys think. A rifle that doesn’t shoot is a boat anchor in my books. If that offends you and your followers….so be it! You guys slinging mud is just comical at this point. :chuckle: :chuckle:
Grow up, your acting like a bunch of high school girls at prom.

Ask the tinkerer.

Well said jrebel. This thread is garbage.

Simple facts. You slung mud. You screwed with the rifle. You couldn’t shoot it under four inches. You’re mess was corrected. The rifle shoots, end of story.

Keep telling yourself that. :chuckle:
How many times did yours have go back before it shot well?? Tell the truth.

Seriously! Stick with your factory savage. You have no business around a custom that belongs to someone else. You yourself said you reworked everything. In the wrong direction I may add.
If you are going to sling mud and talk trash. At least be man enough to accept the fact you may get a reaction. You lack candor.

You lack the ability to tell the truth….thus lacking integrity

You fired how many rounds and couldn’t shoot under four inches? The first three shot group with a clean bore @ 100 after the crap wreck you caused was corrected went mid .5’s. Something just isn’t adding up on your end.

I would wager money right now. That you are trying to get this thread shut down because you were wrong!

Locked.
Pointless thread.
The gunsmith/custom rifle/pissing matches in Wenatchee run deep. That’s one thing I’ve learned off of hunt wa.
I’ll add that nobody asked me to lock this thread. I dislike pissing match threads and I don’t care who started them.
