My friend gave me a white river classic fly rod last year that he had bought and then messed up his back so he never got to use it. I have used this rod a few time and there was nothing wrong with it. I stored it in a hard case and pulled it out yesterday. I went into a recently mowed field and started casting. As I was beginning my back cast, right as my line unrolled at the back, the rod snapped in half right below the furrele! My line is balanced to the rod so I was not overloading it. Anyway, I called BPS and told them what happened. All they said was it only has a one year warrenty so you will have to go get it fixed yourself. I understand that the warrenty expired but you would think that they would stand behind their product or at least try t help me in some way. There are no places near my house to get it fixed and I do not know if you even could fix it. It is very frustrating because the rod was special to me because of who gave it to me and I was always very careful with it. I just had to vent.

They use to have excellent service on their rods. Back in the mid 80's I was fishing a tournament and broke the tip off of a brand new BPS rod by closing the lid of my rod box on it. I called them the next day and they sent me a whole new rod and I had it by the following weekend plus I got to keep he broken one, had it fixed and used it for years.
