Title: Tree stand suggestions / what to look in a tree stand
Post by: Grousehunter19 on June 13, 2022, 08:31:22 AM: I have an archery blacktail tag this year and so am interested in getting a tree stand. I was wondering if y’all have any tree stand recommendations, and/or things that you look for in a good tree stand. I hunt on DNR land and so I can’t use any stands that damage the trees. I assume that means climbing stands are a no go.

Post by: Jpmiller on June 13, 2022, 08:34:49 AM: I got a two person stand to use with my kids last year and can say I'll always use the two man stand if I can. Not a ton of extra money but the extra room is super duper awesome. I'd look at big ones, I think ours is a lock down by rivers edge and was happy with it over the course of the year.

If you research, you can find a few that one person can setup by themselves. The biggest concern is the length of the ladder sections. And if they can fit in your pickup, LOL

Post by: Rutnbuxnbulls on June 18, 2022, 06:36:54 AM: I have a two man, a climber, and a tree saddle. I haven’t used the climber in years, too loud and heavy. The two man is great for extra room, but has its drawbacks. Immobile.

I love the saddle! It’s lightweight, pretty quick to get up to elevation and pretty comfortable. I can set up and hunt a spot for an hour or two then come down, move and reset several times in a day. It all weighs like 10-15 lbs and fits in a small pack with the climbing sticks strapped to outside of pack. Great option for guys that always wonder if the buck is just over the next ridge!
