Title: Alternate to tree saddle
Post by: MeepDog on June 16, 2022, 01:26:30 PM
Anyone ever tried using a rock climbing harness or something similar in the same way as a tree saddle? What's the pros and cons vs a real hunting saddle? They're minimum $100 more. Is it worth it?

Haven't tried them, but I bet the rock climbing/tree climbing gear is much more comfortable and transfers our body weight load better. In my experience, when it comes to tools, and gear needed for work, the more you spend the better and more functional it is.

Rock climbing harnesses are not designed for long sits. Very uncomfortable as they dig into the groin area. You would quickly lose blood circulation to your legs. Saddles support you by your rear. There's not really a good alternative to a saddle other than a traditional tree stand. That said a climbing harness would be suitable for a tree stand safety harness.
