One of my favorite pieces so far this year. Father/son team took these two tremendous blacktails (years apart) and later decided to get them both mounted up. Using a spare cape in inventory for the buck from ‘79’ both animals are in a ‘wall pedestal’ form which shows off more of the shoulder of a buck. With built habitat mimicking western Washington atop a whiskey barrel I’m stoked how it came out. What a memory the son will have for years to come. Thank you for the work!

So cool Joel! Do you by chance know how tall it is overall? I don't have vaulted ceilings so was contemplating a mount like this for a pair of bucks I have.

The top of the oak log is just under 8’. The buck sits about 8” over the top but it can definetly be re-adjusted to accommodate a lower height for most bucks. I’ve done several like this with no problems on height unless it’s a couple of 180”+ mulies…then you might run into problems

A guy I hunted with shot a nice bull elk, had it mounted and placed it on the wall.....he didn't have vaulted ceilings either. He said it felt like the elk was sitting on the couch with him. Get a few drinks in you and the conversation could get interesting, "You seem like a member of the family.......I'm so sorry I shot you, man."

Haha yeah elk are a different beast. MUCH larger footprint. With deer I feel the exact opposite. When they are on the walls they feel like they protrude into your space. A deer pedestal in a corner is a fantastic way to display them when low ceilings come into play.
Problem is every corner of my house has a mount in it. Id like to stack a couple like Joel did here. Id probably need to do a pedestal thats a bit lower than the whiskey barrel I think🤔

Example. This cabinet is already taking up a portion of flooring. Pop a deer head on top rent free. Wife was really impressed with my decorating skills :chuckle:
