Hello all,
Long time site stalker first time poster. My daughter was drawn for the Wynoochee rifle youth cow tag and I was just wondering how hard of a tag that is to fill if your not hunting on the private farm land in the area? Just want to know if its even worth the time trying to fill that tag or if we should just hunt for a bull in a unit I know better. Thanks in advance

From my experience it is a tough unit for elk. Not trying to discourage and hope some people have some great ideas for you. But I think there are pockets of elk in that unit on public with a lot of void areas. Hopefully you will find what you are looking for. I know the private tends to congragate a lot of the elk down there.

This tag is basically for private land owners to shoot cows on their property. If you contact the bios in Montesano they can usually point you towards the right landowners. If you are not interested in hunting private it’s almost impossible as all the land in that unit is basically private. If you can contact the landowners and line something up it’s basically a harvest not a hunt. My son had this tag last year and we didn’t fill it because of massive flooding and the elk were MIA. Other years almost every tag gets filled. You still have time to return the tag if you are not interested.

Thanks for the advice. I will contact the bio in Montesano to see if they can point me in the right direction. Thanks again for the help.
