Title: Manson bear and first time bear hunt
Post by: carterlyman on August 19, 2022, 05:48:52 PM
Hey everyone, I'm fairly new to hunting as I'm only 16; been out with my dad a few times but this year I'm putting together a solo bear hunt with some buddies. We're going to hunt the manson area but have no idea where to start. I don't know what the main forage up there is, I assume it's berries and I don't know what elevation to focus on or the most productive area to hunt. I've hiked the area a bunch and I'm pretty familiar with the whole chelan/manson area, just haven't seen any bears this year. A few more questions, what rifle caliber would work best for bears? I've got a .308 and .30-06 to choose from. Also, crazy question, but do bears bed down during the day like deer or do they stay active the whole day. Any info is greatly appreciated, thanks guys!
