I put a 4-12 VX Freedom with the CDS turrets on it. I ordered my custom turret for it. I’m shooting 225 gr SST Hornady loads. My question is more towards the rifle. Stock out of the box how far should I be able to push it? 500 yards? Further?
Thanks.

How fast ya pushing that 225?
I had a 338 rcm for an hour. Rechambered it to 338/375 ruger. Never did shoot it as rcm but ballistics are ballistics
As long as the accuracy and precision is good that bullet will perform rather well down to about 1800 fps

Let me know if you find ammo. I have one, ammo hard to come by

I have 5 boxes of Hornady 225 gr SST for it. BC .515 and 2750 fps at the barrel. My biggest question really is the physical capability of the actual rifle. All my long distance rifles are heavy barrels, floated stocks and custom triggers. This is pretty much the opposite 😂 The pic I attached is the exact same rifle.

Looks like the same gun I have exactly. I put a Timney trigger in it at 2.5 pounds. Sooo much better. It’s pretty accurate but idk if it’s a 500 yard gun. I love carrying it though it’s my family’s favorite gun to use when we go. I loan it out to them. I have 225 interbonds and 225 SST. The SST grenade and cause crazy damage. Haven’t killed anything with the interbonds though

I’ve really thought of adding the Timney trigger. Also a muzzle break.

The Timney is really worth the money. I would get one first thing for it. I’m not a fan of muzzle brakes because how loud they are, especially in that short barrel unless you are really strict using hearing protection out hunting. But I did put a suppressor on my 7mm.

When you ask "how far am I able to push it", do you mean how far can you stay supersonic, or how far can you kill an elk, or ???

Accuracy is in barrel and chamber and right load free floated bsrrell and good trigger helps knowing what your bullet does at what distance also

That was my point. This is just a stock Ruger compact magnum. I have the right load but it’s not a rifle not designed for long range. Was seeing if anyone had pushed one similar out around 500-600 and what kind of groups they could hold.

Doesn't matter what anyone else is getting. What are you getting? Only way you'll know.

That is rifle specific I'm sure it could be done
