Title: Dayton unit camping??? Daughter drew antlerless tag.
Post by: D-Rock425 on October 31, 2022, 09:19:19 AM: Twelve year old daughter drew a dayton whitetail antlerless tag. Planning to the 10th-13th probably but is there any decent places to camp in the unit?

kinda what I was looking at too. Maybe I'll get a room at the old dayton motel.

Stayed at the blue mountain hotel a couple times. It’s what it is… a dry place to stay haha.

If you are staying low in the fields, then Pioneer is a good choice. Its actually a cemetery, but I've not seen graves. During the general opener its overflowing. This late, it likely has very few campers. The land is owned by a trust and the trustee is in MT, last I checked. On Skyline where Malcolm Grade connects. There is a good sized piece of Feel Free to Hunt land across the road and then down Malcolm Grade.

It is more expensive than the motels in town, but the Best Western is very hunter friendly.

Post by: D-Rock425 on November 13, 2022, 06:14:01 PM: On our way home without a deer :bash:. Saw a handful of nice bucks that we could've taken shots at but a she only had a doe tag. Every do we saw was tail up doing 90mph, on private or just beyond what she's comfortable shooting.
