I wanted to run a poll to see how the success was here in Washington for deer hunting this year. There are about 600 members on here, It would be cool if at least half of you voted. This should be more accurate than the average check station. I assumed this poll was for everyone eho deer hunted by the way, so if you didn't hunt, don't vote.
Thanks

i think i've been hunting here in WA since 2001.
i've never hit a check station to date. i drive back hwy 26 to I-90 usually the wednesday of general season every year for the last 6 years. this year i came back on monday and my buddy came back on sunday, still no check station. do they actually exist?
-
Its really funny as they base all of their numbers on a check station out of the chewuch or Chewack. Bare in mind that it has been in the same place for years and years, and there are two roads. You can choose to go through the hassle of going through the check station, or drive around the block where its actually shorter and quicker. Then base all of your reports and forcasts and blah blah blah on thos stats for the whole east side.

Along with your poll Boneaddict, I'd like to see some success photos of some of those 2007 filled tags!
-
Tag Soup for me. I tried most of the season to get my daughter her first deer and no luck. I had her on a rest or shooting sticks with fairly easy shots and she just wasn't fast enough or wanted a better shot. I have to give her credit for that. Then when I was on my own I was looking for another wall hanger. I saw 2 great and 1 good blacktails. Things never worked out. Its been a few years since I haven't tagged out but I am satisfied with the time with the kids. Already trying to figure out next year! :tung:
-
Doe tag filled, no glory, just good eats!
-
With 700 members, I was hoping to get more votes on here for a more accurate accounting.
-
Three modern deer tags, hunted the majority of the season, no kills. Passed on a couple small 3 points, and saw 2 great bucks.

You can add two more whitetail bucks and a blacktail buck for my hunting partners.
-
Here's a Tampico buck and a Grayback bear, close to home right Boneaddict?
-
Drew the multiseason tag this year which ended up filling it on the opener of muzzleloader!! Once I get them pics on the computer, I will attempt to post them!!

Yep, very close to home. Well done!
-
I shot a very nice blacktail buck the first day of late buck. Spent the next six days looking for it.Never found it. The first time in thirty years I shot something that I never recovered. :'(
-
I've done that once bookworm. Its a VERY sick feeling.
-
Voting isn't either, but then again I wouldn't want Hillary in either because I didn't stop by the booth.

SHot a Whitetail Spike on th elast day of the late season and my old man shot a nice fat doe about an hour later. We were hunting on our property out in Rice. Up in the Hucleberry. Had some bruiser buck around in September, but they were scarce the rest of the season. First year we have owned the property, so we learned alot about the area and hope to do better next year. We also got a doe for my step-mom on opening day of muzzleloader. Not very exciting. Looked out the kitchen window at daybreak, stepped out on their back porch and looked up the hill at the does and picked the biggest one and she shot her. About a 5 minute ordeal. Not much of a hunt, but they just wanted the meat. Dad and I hunted hard all season, but never could connect on the big guys.

Not much more than people does and small bucks during general for me. Saw some biggins in my area in august but the weak broken leg slowed me down for the deneral season pretty hard because i had surgery a week before opener. Did take a kid out though and got him his first deer a doe. Went on late hutn and jumped one hellacious buck in his bed and I was so suprised that when I saw him I didnt take a shot and then he was runnign and all there was was a texas heart shot. Shot at a smaller buck on the last day but I missed..... :bash:. Thats my deer season.

First year in twenty that I am eating tag soup.
-
Sorry mossback.....that damn Passion wrote something and I was harassing him back, then he goes and nukes it so I sound like I am talking to myself. :chuckle:
Was it as fancy of soup as 300 concocted Billy?
-
:chuckle: sometimes I have to moderate my self...........

Not even close. His was tag soup of the most enviable kind.
Mine was just plain old ordinary lack of ambition tag soup. Not just on deer, but bear and elk as well. So now that I have hit rock bottom it can only get better.
-
I'm eating multiseason tag soup, much tastier! I actually had fun trying to get my nephew a deer but it didn't work out.
-
I am acually having tag/horn soup,(I throw in any 2pt sheds I find). With a bull in the freezer I had the chance to be picky for once, and I really didn't try all that hard.
-
Yeah passion, I've noted some of your self moderation. SOmetimes its a bit sarcastic. :)

Tag soup here too. This was my first year archery hunting. I had a buck broadside at about 35 yards. He was looking straight at me, I was full draw, but couldn't count three horns. He wouldn't turn his head, I only had a front view of his horns. I couldn't hold any longer and had to let down, arrow bounced on the riser and he bolted. Still didn't get to see what he was. I also had a blown stalk on a doe the last day of early season. I did have a lot more fun hunting archery that I ever did modern. More practice this year, and hopefully no tag soup this year.

My son and I hunted a new area this year for the first time . Just killed a lot of time (and my feet) learning the area . Next year we know where to go .Might take 2 grandsons in there .

Tag soup for me and the other four hunters in our group-lol where did all the 3 points go (mule deer)...jk jk they are there and the snow was really nice just didnt line up with that 3 pointer-it was a memorable hunt though for sure-wouldnt have it any other way.
-
Damn I just seen this post. I hunted modern this year an while I saw legal bucks the whole time I was out, I was holding out for a particular 4p muley I seen during harvest. He ended up getting shot on the adjoing property I hunt. And I missed my when I had my shot....he wasnt supposed to be where he was and when he jumped up I missed the shot. Hed been shot at a few times that week evidently cause when I saw him last he was full throttle across a stubble field. Teaches me to expect the unexpected........oh well next year he'll be bigger.

Only saw one shooter buck all year, and just did not get an opportunity at him.
-
Shot a little 3x2 blacktail near the end of my season, it was rain/sleet outside getting ready to snow, I was not feeling to great that morning, but I smoked him at about 30 feet with the ol' smokepole. I got to go with my dad, so any deer it one for the memory book when I am with him. First deer my daughter got to see, first of many to come.

Rain and sleet are the best conditions for BT. Way to keep your powder dry!

Nice deer Leanne. My name is Angela and I am only 19 too. It is nice to see another girl on the site. They are kinda rare on here. ;)

I read your post on intros, you have had a great season! Always good to know that there is another girl out there hunting. You were hunting east the mountains, I have never hunted the east side but I will soon enough, maybe once Sienna (my daughter) is older, I can take a trip with my boyfriend Sean and we can take her on a deer/grouse hunt at her great great uncles over in the twisp area. Great to have you here:)

Great job!

I have been camping up in the Twisp area . . . and my Dad shot this Mule deer up there in 1997 or 1998.

I hope that i can shoot my first deer this year. That would be pretty cool.
-
Great buck Leanne and welcome to the site....
Isn't Twisp awesome Angelface. How would you like to grow up there? I was or am very fortunate.
-
The Twisp area is pretty cool from what i remember. My dads dear was pretty sweet that he got there, but the last time i was there was in 1997 or 1998 so i don't remember much. I would love to go back there and hunt like my dad did. :)
