Hope all the youths hunters had a good hunt
-
We got into them on Saturday, lots of gobbling and strutting, but couldn't quite close the deal. It was cold!
-
My sons biggest Tom yet and our friends 1st hunt ever and his 1st Tom. Almost 10 inch beard and 8.5 inch beard.
-
Wyatts first bird. Soccer kept us in town Saturday but we scrapped this guy out Sunday before the monsoon :chuckle:
-
Great pics Karl. We'll done Wyatt!

Nice job to all the young men!!
:yeah: I've been taking youth hunters out for quite a few years now and my kids are finally of age but I don't think I was anymore excited for Wyatt as I was for any of my other youth hunters in the past. Youth turkeys is just maximum fun and the hunt I look forward to the most each year.
-
Great pics everyone. Those smiles are what it’s all about. I didn’t have a youth to take hunting this year. Keep those pics coming. Successful or not.

Kendal's first turkey. She was beyond excited. 32 yard shot. She is becoming quite the little hunter. 18.2 lbs 9 1/16" beard 3/4" spurs. Birds in our area (Deer Park) want nothing to do with hen calls right now. This guy saw the jake decoy and came in on a rope. Went south of Spokane yesterday and it was the same thing. Still in big bachelor groups there. Lots of gobbling but literally walking away from the calls.

Shot my first ducks with that gun after my dad sawed the stock shorter so it has some nostalgia on my end. I'm hoping he can still tag a turkey with it this year!

Definitely cold Saturday. It was practically a blizzard during our 1st set. Cleaned the decoys twice and it still was to much snow to trick this Tom. He got suspicious about 40 yards out.

Awesome bird Kendal!!!!!

My buddy just sent me this flashback from 7 years ago. Both my boys are on the outside. The little dude on the left is my youngest, now 14 and the young man from this year's pic posted in this thread. Man how time flies. I believe we shot this bird on @Bango skank 's dad's place if memory serves.
-
Very cool! Congrats to all the young hunters. Great job parent/mentors!

No. Neither do I. What is a pressure cooker?

No. Neither do I. What is a pressure cooker?
Isn't that thingy you use to can foods with.?
Anyway I don't cook em that way.
I make a gravy with cold water and flour till all clumps are gone.
Dry flour in a bowl with lid. With whatever seasoning you like.
Then I cut breast into strips, beat the Heck out of them with a meat hammer, between zip lock or wax paper .
Dip in wet ,put in dry bowl ,shake it good with lid on.
Then hot oil and fry ,like fried chicken.
Secrect sause is ranch dressing with a tiny bit of mustard mixed in and again whatever seasoning you like.
It should look similar to this.

Oh, OK. Got it.
I thought you were referring to some cool new attachment for a turkey shotgun that would prevent him from having to shoot the bird 3 times... :chuckle:
We do a similar recipe: Slice the breasts into cutlets, beat them the same way you do, egg-wash them and roll in panko breadcrumbs. Dust them with a rub of 1/3 garlic powder, 1/3 Onion Powder, 1/3 paprika, sprinkle with Montreal steak seasoning and fry in olive oil in hot cast iron.
We also cut some into chunks and do turkey nuggets the same way, but we toss them in buffalo sauce.

My daughter’s first
wow that toms got a nogging on him! Congrats to her

Had 3 youth hunters with 0 turkeys their belt for the opening weekend. Toughest weekend of hunting I’ve ever had for workable birds. Called four toms and a bunch of hens in opening morning, but after the first shot it was too chaotic for either of the other kids to pull off an ethical shot. Half a dozen toms into range after that with no shots we’re headed home Sunday afternoon with one birds and a bunch of memories to talk about later.

Awesome guys, LOVE seeing the kids out there turkey hunting!!!

congratulations everybody. some of those pictures the landscapes are stunning.
