Title: Scuba with rod and reel?????
Post by: millerwheeler on April 27, 2023, 08:19:02 AM: So my brother hit me with the oddest question . He is a certified diver rod and reel season starts before Spear season in marine area 11 he wants to dive with a rod and reel and basically try and catch them :…… now is this legal ? I know wild but can’t see why not other than he has to dispatch them and measure them I dunno any input ???!

Really far, only in one direction though. It would be interesting if a seal nabbed your fish, best to have a knife handy.

He found they miss the bait at least half of the time, with some species being much worse than others (I want to say tiger rockfish had an abysmal success rate!)

Talked to 2 wardens so far who both had the same approach and also got a good laugh
