Title: New to bear hunting. . .
Post by: atomicjoe23 on June 01, 2009, 02:02:49 PM
Hey guys. . .I have never been bear hunting before, but my neighbor set-up a game cam on his back porch about two weeks ago and he's had black bear on his back porch almost nightly. . .that and my dogs have been going absolutely ape-sh*t nightly as well!!!

So I was thinking that I might give it a try during the Fall season. . .

. . .seeing as how I have never done this before I don't even know where to start. . .I'm gonna try to do some scouting and see if I can find any sign (I know what their scat and tracks look like. . .I actually saw some pretty big scat piles when I was coyote hunting in Dewatto earlier this year), but short of that I'm not sure how to go about actually hunting them. . .stalking, tree stand????

I haven't reviewed the reg's yet either so I don't know what is legal and what is prohibited. . .i.e. baiting, hounds, etc.

Thanks for any help you can provide!

If you wanna try calling them.  Baiting and hounds are not legal.

here is an article on bear calling by Wayne Carlton, he is the guy that did the video "Calling Bears. They Come to Eat".
