-I pan fry half a pound of bacon until it is about halfway cooked, cut into 1 inch pieces, then set to the side.  Keep the bacon grease in the pan.

-Chop up one white onion, one orange and one red bell pepper, and sautee in the bacon grease until they start to soften and season with salt pepper garlic powder. Sometimes I add some diced jalapeno for some heat.

-Mix the peppers and onions with two large cans of your favorite beans in a baking dish, I usually just use Bush's for ease.

-Spread the pieces of half cooked bacon over the top of the bean mixture. Bake at 350 for about 30-45 min, or until the bacon on top is to your liking.

Enjoy with your favorite smoked meat and cold beverage!

I've even done them in elk/deer camps, in a cast iron Dutch oven. IF you know how to count the correct number of charcoal you can still get the temp's to work out.
Ingredients
•   1 cup navy beans, soaked overnight and drained
•   4 cups water
•   ¼ cup ketchup
•   ¼ cup maple syrup
•   2 tablespoons brown sugar
•   2 tablespoons molasses
•   1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
•   ½ teaspoon salt
•   ⅛ teaspoon ground black pepper
•   ⅛ teaspoon chili powder
•   1 small onion, chopped
Directions
1.   Place beans in a large saucepan with 4 cups of water. Bring to a boil over high heat, then reduce heat to medium-low, cover, and simmer 1 hour.
2.   Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F). Stir ketchup, maple syrup, brown sugar, molasses, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and chili powder together in a small bowl; set aside.
3.   Once beans have simmered for 1 hour, drain, and reserve cooking liquid. Pour beans into a 1 1/2-quart casserole dish; stir in chopped onion and molasses mixture. Stir in enough reserved cooking liquid so sauce covers beans by 1/4 inch.
4.   Cover and bake in the preheated oven for 10 minutes; reduce heat to 200 degrees F and cook 6 hours longer, stirring beans after they have cooked for 3 hours. Once beans are tender and sauce has reduced and is sticky, remove from the oven, stir, recover, and allow to stand 15 minutes before serving.

I keep it simple, although some of the others look good.  I do chopped up bacon browned lightly, and toss in some onion.  Cook for a minute and toss in the beans and brown sugar.  Done

Well not to brag, but my family has the best baked bean recipe in the state...probably even the world  :chuckle:
We even had our collection of family recipes published in a cookbook!

This baked bean recipe is super easy, and can be doubled, tripled or even quadrupled for large crowds. I usually make mine in a crockpot (or crockpots) and it's always a hit at BBQ's and potlucks. Enjoy!

TANGY 5 BEAN BAKE

6 slices bacon

1 cup chopped onion

1 clove garlic, minced

1 (16 ounce) can pinto beans

1 (16 ounce) can great Northern beans, drained

1 (16 ounce) can baked beans

1 (16 ounce) can red kidney beans, drained

1 (15 ounce) can garbanzo beans, drained

¾ cup ketchup

½ cup molasses

¼ cup packed brown sugar

2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

1 tablespoon yellow mustard (I prefer Dry Mustard)

½ teaspoon pepper

Preheat oven to 375 degrees F (190 degrees C).

Place bacon in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium high heat until evenly brown. Drain, reserving 2 tablespoons of drippings, crumble and set aside in a large bowl. Cook the onion and garlic in the reserved drippings until onion is tender; drain excess grease and transfer to the bowl with the bacon.

To the bacon and onions add pinto beans, northern beans, baked beans, kidney beans and garbanzo beans. Stir in ketchup, molasses, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, mustard and black pepper. Mix well and transfer to a 9x12 inch casserole dish.

Cover and bake in preheated oven for 1 hour.

Any vegetable recipe that begins with meat is a winner in my book!

This recipe is the best I have ever had.  Save some leftover brisket for the recipe.

Not mine. I make it when beans are needed
Dutches wicked baked beans
6-8 strips of bacon cut into 1/2 inch squares
1/2 Medium onion, diced
1/2 Bell pepper, diced
1 - 2 Jalapeno Peppers, diced (seeding is optional)
1 - 55 ounce can Bushs Baked Beans
1-8 ounce can of pineapple chunks, drained
1 Cup Brown Sugar, packed
1 Cup ketchup
1/2 - 1 Tbs. dry (ground) mustard

Saute bacon pieces in fry pan until crispy and remove from pan with a slotted spoon. Saute onion, bell pepper and jalapeno  pepper until tender.

In a large mixing bowl combine beans, pineapple, brown sugar, ketchup and dry mustard. Stir in bacon pieces and vegetables. Pour into a 12X9 or a deep 9X9 aluminum baking pan. (While mixing if things look dry, add additional ketchup 1/4 -1/2 cup at a time)

Place in a 220-250° smoker for 2 1/2 - 3 hours (make sure temperature of the baked beans reaches 160° ) or place in a 350° oven and bake for 1 hour.

NOTE: If you are making these beans as a side dish for Kansas City style pork ribs, smoke the removed skirt meat for 1-1 1/2 hours, then dice the skirt meat and stir into the Baked Beans.

So good😉🥃🇺🇸

I love me some baked beans... Some delicious recipes so far, keep em coming indeed!  One way to spice up simple canned beans is with some A1 sauce, puts a lil tang in em!  Hungry now.
