Got me 2 and a good rainbow. Lost 1 rainbow and one laker at the kayak. Was only out about 4 hours.
Fished down about 35 feet around the south end of the lake. Also sometimes ran a spoon near the surface. Both payed out fish.
This is about 1 week ago.
Not my best run but it still has Lakers.
-
Nice work! Do you have a closer picture of that rainbow? The spotting on it at that angle looks very "Brown Trout" like, and they've been known to end up in there.
-
Nice job.
-
No but it ain't a brown. I know they got em.
-
Need to get out there to redeem myself, got skunked the last two trips. Any trend you noticed with the lakers? I've only bottom bounced jigs for them.
-
Yes springtime til mid June and fall after October they are in the higher parts of water column.
So that is when I fish them. I never jig. I always move around. I've used anything from tiny Dick nite spoons, to Rapala jointed shads or hoochies and spinners. They're not picky. I never use flashers. They see just fine in the clear water

 thanks, gives me the kick in the pants to get out there this weekend!

Nice trip!!!
-
Nicely done. What do you do with the lakers?
-
I like to eat them. They taste great to me
-
Sounds doable with a fly. Only Mack’s I’ve caught on a fly were in Bonaparte years ago. Man those things get big
-
Nice catch! What setup were you using if you don't mind sharing. Thanks!
-
Definitely doable on the fly. And you'd probably find some fat rainbow or brown. Bonaparte is a cool lake. Wish I could get more time there.
I used either a Rapala jointed shad (blue and white but any color works if you get it in their faces) or a Walleye Candy spoon on this trip. I like 12lb test because they got teeth.
Still haven't got a monster but after fishing the lake for about 6 years I am learning what works for me.
This is a respectable one from a different year.

Agree it looks like a brown trout.

No Lahontans. There are some native Westslope Cutthroat though.
-
Any crawdads in Cle Elum? I assume no, but just got some of that Crayster attractant in. Gonna have plenty of time to soak some pots this weekend.

Shout out to @broadhead for giving me something to do last weekend! Got my first couple macks and had a surprise wildlife encounter at camp...

Cool video, you got the solo netting down pretty well. And running two down riggers solo, not bad at all!
-
Cool video!!
Thanks for sharing.
-
Looks like a nice weekend! Thanks for sharing it.
-
Great video and boat setup. Never used downriggers in freshwater, im thinking i may need to give it a try...
-
Is the boat launch open? Went there last year, super excited, to find that the launch was high and dry. Left a bad taste in my mouth. Have not been back but want to.
-
Yep, Wish Poosh launch was open.
-
Thank you. Fishin this week! :IBCOOL:
