I took new my new f150 in for a warranty issue (power steering failure at 10k miles), and the dealership has taken 22 days before they even looked at the issue. After the 22 days I got a call and they said parts are on order and it will probably take another 6 to 10 days to get the truck up and running. So in the end my local dealership has taken a month for warranty service, which kind of makes my upset. Is this normal? The dealership said this is normal everywhere, but I have never experienced this before. Anyone else have similar experiences?

I haven’t ever had them keep it that long for warranty issues. Are they providing you a rental truck for that entire time at their cost? They sure better be

Uhh. Just making sure I don’t have any F150 power steering issues before I chime in LOL.
WSUcoug shoot me a pm with details.
I’m not going to drag a dealer into the mud here.
It might be normal. I’ve got 20 vehicles sitting here for multiple days trying to get them through the shop. Waaayyyyyy more than I’ve had in a very long time. There are multiple factors contributing if you’re on the eastside.

I called about a touch screen issue complete shutdown (ac and heat are controlled by this) and radio would not shut off even after keys pulled and door opened and closed.. this was a week ago and they said beginning of September! I disconnected the battery and it all reset but it will happen again. 😡

Holy crap that's excessive.
Battery dosconnect will usually cure that.

What dealers should do and what dealer do are two completely different things. I literally get tired of listening to their bs.
They did not give me a rental. Thankfully I had my old chevy half ton to get me around. I would have been in a world of hurt if I didn't have the spare truck.

Had my 21 f150 towed to the dealership because the electric parking brake was stuck on. My truck stayed there for 3 weeks and then they called me and said there was no issue with my truck. I picked my truck up and the next day it did it again. Finally had it fixed by another dealership but somehow that wasn’t covered under my extended warranty.

Is it a Ford extended service plan? I assume they replaced park brake actuators.

Should be. Said it was bumper to bumper extended warranty to 100k miles. They replaced the rear one because I broke the clip trying to unplug it to release the brake. I was in the woods elk hunting when it happened. Took the tow truck driver over 5 hours to get me. I’m not exactly sure what they did. I’ve had the screen flash “parking brake fault service now” every once in a while so they didn’t fully fix it. I think a electric parking brake is a horrible idea.

Gotcha. Not really any such thing as bumper to bumper extended warranty. That’s a sales pitch from a greasy finance department person. I could probably explain why it wasn’t covered if you want but I’d need more info. Shoot me a pm with your VIN and odometer if you want.

Ford dealer had my wife's 2017 Escape for three months. It took about a month to get an engine and two months for the dealer to put it in. They claim they only have one tech and one bay for a job like that. We were six vehicles in line. The finance guy told us the bumper to bumper covered everything when we bought the car. maybe it doesn't?

Salesmen are good for that. I deal with warranty companies very regularly. I have never seen one that covers "bumper to bumper". Most of those contracts actually have a whole page dedicated to "what's not covered"

How many of these horror stories were sound Ford in Renton? I'm taking a fleet vehicle there for an oil change tomorrow, pray for me

I can't imagine there are any issues for a scheduled oil change. You could pretty much get a high school student to do that in the parking lot without screwing it up.

You think cure for good or temporarily? It’s a pain to get to the battery (2022 transit 250) the cameras go blue when backing up quite often still. Need to get it scheduled in.

Hacks.
You should come see me. I’m only a little further north.

Do you work for PSE?
I did a battery disconnect on a PSE van the other day for the same problem.
I don’t want to say it’s a permanent fix but I’ve done it a dozen or more times over the years.

The consolidation of Ford dealerships has not helped the "At your Service". same problem in Spokane, I finally made a big enough stink after 2 months of no communication for a pan gasket/rear main seal warranty that they had to make some moves. The service advisor that started the process is no longer there, and finally got with a good service advisor, got scheduled service moving forward, got a loaner vehicle and now the communication is declining. I have had the loaner for 2 weeks. This post served as a reminder to reach out again. "message i sent" we leave for vacation, i haven't heard from you, i assume you don't need your loaner back until next Friday?
i know every business is short handed, but the lack of communication and the over promise and under deliver is what has me the most frustrated with most all dealerships.. at some point, the advisors need to be honest with their customers. We have put an extra 4-5k miles on the diesel pickup over the last 4 months trying to not take the Explorer to far from town. same again this weekend, because the loaner is too small for the family. All service sucks right now. Best rule of thumb is to not break anything.

If it's been in the shop for a certain number of days the lemon law may come into effect.
Days out of service accumulated during attempts to diagnose or repair due to one or more ‘nonconformities’ or ‘serious safety defects’. The vehicle has been out of service due to diagnosis or repair:
a cumulative total of 30 or more cumulative calendar days
at least 15 days occurred during the period of the manufacturer’s written warranty and during the “eligibility period” (see What Is The Eligibility Period?)
The consumer sent a written request to the manufacturer asking for repurchase or replacement of the vehicle and
manufacturer failed to respond or did not reached a resolution with the consumer within 40 days

Very rarely.
Pretty sure the part you shared is missing the important part about the age and miles of the vehicle.

Upper oil pan leak?
We can turn and burn those. The problem is the 11 other trucks in the shop at the same time and the lack of qualified techs to fix them. Anybody can do brakes on a Focus. Not everyone can do an upper oil pan on a 6.7.
Really that should say not everyone can do an upper oil pan correctly so it won’t leak again. Any hack can do the job. Doing it correctly is a different story.

Website says 2 year and 24,000 miles. Might apply to some. Probably difficult path, but a way to become a squeakier wheel.

Also as soon as you mention “lemon law” the dealer shuts up and refers you to the manufacturer.

Sadly, it is the Ford Exploer Ecoboost of the better half. still shouldn't take that long to do pan and rear main. But they aren't communicating, which tells me they miss-diagnosed it, and it is likely the turbo. The new service advisor says she hasn't seen many pan or rear mains on ecoboost motors, but lots of slow leaks on turbos. ???? i don't have a leg to stand on in that conversation. They are also trying to warranty an airbag defect/light, which is out of warranty, because i couldn't get them to diagnose and document in the 12 months it has taken them to get a look at that subject matter.

My step moms explorer has had a on and off issue with steering rack causing death wobble. Had 3 dealers in Cali look it over and could not find an issue, then the dealer in enumclaw pulled up a tsb related and found it was under warranty repair, they expressly told her to not drive it but do not bring it to us as we don't have any parking for more vehicles waiting on parts. ( I believe this as I have big rig dealers telling me the same thing for the last 6 months, even charging a storage fee for trucks that are waiting for parts) that was 7 months ago, it was just fixed last week. Last 2 months was waiting for torque to yield one time use steering rack bolts. Least that's what my dad was told by the dealer. Then there was the whole they didn't want to honor the warranty because it was over mileage, so I had my dad pull up the receipts for when it was looked at in California and should have been fixed with lower mileage they let it slide then. Customer service doesn't exist anymore I swear, damn glad I got out of automotive when I did, I wouldn't be able to sleep at night knowing I had customers getting screwed around like that. Then again now in the diesel Industry getting parts can be just as terrible. 2 weeks to flatten the curve my hind end, still seeing major parts and materials shortage all over the place.
Do not misconstrue this as me bagging on ford dealers, I'm sure there are still some good ones out there. But the last 2 years has showed me that there is no such thing as customer service nor accountability or even caring about your job in my experience on the phone with ford, toyota Peterbilt, Cummins, Kenworth and Freightliner every day

Sometimes. Everything can be fixed. Usually what ends up happening is the car gets fixed, it takes longer than it should for whatever reason, the manufacturer offers the customers car payments or free extended warranty or maintenance contract and they don’t end up going the lemon law route. It’s been years since one of my customers lemon lawed a vehicle.

correct, an oil leak. Ford ok'd warranty on replacing Pan and rear main seal, but everyone i have talked to say that those never leak on the ecoboost. it isn't leaking a lot of oil, but enough to make a mess, which leads me to believe that it is something along the lines of what you just said "oil supply tubes to the turbo." Who knows? no communication since i dropped it off. I have had their loaner Escape for 2 weeks and the Escape will sit in my garage for another week as we leave for vacation tomorrow.

What year and how many miles?
2017 69,000 miles i believe.
bought it certified pre-owned and was covered under power train warranty.
airbag warranty expired in August of 2022, but i started bringing it to their attention before then, but of course non-documented. more to follow
