It was an unsuccesful hunt for elk as far as killing goes, but it was a huge learning experience for archery elk. This was the first year I started elk hunting and learned a ton. I did take a nice whitetail on the trip, and a 4 point bull was missed. Since this trip we havent looked back and have harvested several nice bulls. This was a ten day trip, I had to come home one point in the trip for a job interview and then bonzeyed back down. This is the same area that the 2 weeks in Purgatory films were made. Here some canyon pictures for your enjoyment.

Thanks for sharing the pics. Have hunted that area once and my hat is off to anyone who goes in there year after year. It is steep and deep to say the least! nwhunter

The one rule I learned from hunting there...When you are standing at the bottom of a hill you want to climb, you are going to tell your buddy how long it should take to get to the top. Multiply that estimate by 2 or 3.

A buck like that would be worth the trip! Congatulations! Thanks for the pics.
