Title: Englund Marine Westport
Post by: C-Money on July 24, 2023, 08:19:14 AM
Anyone been in Englund Marine in Westport? Do they sell sand shrimp/bait/ tackle? Web page shows indications that it does, curious if anyone one here has been in there. Any news on if the Hungary Whale is open or ever going to re open?

Haven't been in there since last August but they do have quite a bit of tackle and there's a chest freezer in the store but I can't remember what they have for bait. Maybe give them a call and check it out. Annual sidewalk sale should be coming pretty soon in August too.

Englunds sold it when we were there about 3 weeks ago and the Hungry whale is "supposed" to be reopened/rebuilt by next spring.

The hungry whale owner is selling fresh and frozen herring from a new place you turn left at the first stop sign by the store and go several blocks and it's on the left on the corner at the stop sign

I have bought my packaged 'power sand worms' from them. Fresh can be had off the beach but they do not hold up well. Clam necks are best followed by the power sand worms. I usually tear the worms in half.

I'm not set up to pull shrimp off the beach, wish I was! I have some bait string to wrap the shrimp on the hook. I will look for clam necks as well!

You can get at least some using the 'just start digging' technique i'm sure.

A clam gun can be used too. It is just more work. Sending a PM.

If you're driving over from the east side you might as well grab your sand shrimp before you get there. No sense waiting for the very last stop then having them be out, we always used to grab ours in Montesano at the chevron right off the freeway or the 76 up the road. Plenty of other places along the way but they're usually hit or miss

Perfect! We'll definitely do that...also, thought about Walmart in Aberdeen. I like the Bi Mart in Aberdeen but the location is a bit out of the way.

Verle's outside of Shelton may have some also, they have a lot of fishing gear. May be out of your way though.

I wouldn't go to Englunds, every time I do it costs me a hundred or two more than it should.   :chuckle:

If they don't have it they will know who does.
