Well i took my nephew today and had a blast doing it. We did not kill a yote but saw a lot of animals. We saw elk, deer, and turkeys. I was able to get one to answer my call so we moved on him but wasn't able to seal the deal. It went as i hoped, i wanted him to be able to see enough to learn and take something in. He is only 10 and i wanted to ease him into it enough that he wants to go back. I figured that doing my normal kamakazee 20 mile bike ride would only hurt things and maybe turn him away so i took it very easy and let him even help with ideas. I showed him wind direction, and what to look for when scouting. He was totally into it and showed amazing patience so i could not ask for more. He is already planning our next outing.

Thats great, reminds me of when my son was that age. Now he is 23 and we dont get that time as much. Have fun on your future forays into the great outdoors. Mark

My passion for hunting and fishing stemmed from looking up to my uncles. They did take us fishing a couple times but never hunting. Still, I knew they enjoyed it and I wanted to be just like them. Turned out I am 100 times worse than them guys now but it is because I just love the outdoors. I give you a huge  for taking the time to be with him.

The timing of this thread amazes me.
Yesterday, I attended the funeral of a family member, but the person I most wanted to visit with was that favorite uncle who taught me to shoot, and helped me bag my first deer. He is quite old and frail, unable to walk more than a few steps at a time. He can't even hold a handgun out in front of himself anymore. (He was a competitive shooter in the Navy.) He's a very special man to me.
Just as you will be to your nephew.

F.B.365: Thats awesome!
I got two of my nephews hooked on every aspect of the sport. I remember the first time I took them out. Funny as hell. Winter coyote hunt.... They were wearing my camo fleece jackets
that were waaaayy too big. I have pics somewhere of them sitting in the snow wearing the huge coats and those spando-flage type head nets with the eyeholes not lined up with their eyes... Guess you'd have to be there..... but good times. I'm working on another, he's five right now....no dad....long story.....took him out bass fishing last fall. He loved it!
I think we may go this week.
Good luck and have fun!
Just as you will be to your nephew.
I hope so!
