B&C will not score that one point and it will net in the 180's . There was another giant shot in OH this year that is a huge typ thats floating around
-
Definitely a bigin.
I like the guys story, how it went down.
It adds character to a monster buck.
-
The other Ohio buck
-
What a crock they deduct points for common base basically two huge tines score as if they weren’t there - what??????

Doesn’t deduct from gross score , but will under B&C and P&Y scoring system as a typical . The tine doesn’t come from the beam and really isn’t much different than a buck that has a flyer or fork higher up the tine. A giant was killed in Canada in the early 2000’s with a bow that was low 200’s and has that exact same g2 as the above buck and it netted like 185”

Pennsylvania has been cranking out some monsters as well. Antler point restrictions in place for hunters over 16yo are working.

love to see that here on the wetside !

Come out that the buck was poached and the adjoining property was the DA :chuckle:

The whole scoring controversy is so f 'ing stupid. God I hate putting arbitrary numbers on deer.

I like it. Gives an idea of size without a picture. Just another way to describe an animal.
Like I saw a big bull today! How big? 350ish describes the animal and plants a picture. But net score is dumb. Gross score is what really matters lol

which buck was poached?

While the numbers can be frustrating it adds significant value to these deer... unfortunately with out that value alot of these deer would be culled off like pests and the adjacent private/public lands would suffer greatly. No body would win in that world
That's life changing money for that guy, hope for the best

I'm curious as well.
So many definitions of "poached".
Spill the beans...

The op post buck, with shared g2. Read on Facebook that he confessed that it was poached, borrowed a crossbow and shot it. Don’t know all the details . Possibly shot during archery where a crossbow isn’t legal .

too bad, what a moron. I wonder what he did wrong? Tresspassing? I read on another site he said he shot the deer in the evening but retrieved it the next morning. All the field pictures are in the dark, didn't make sense to me.
-
Too bad, I was rooting for the guy
-
I think he was trespassing .. sounds like he was dropped off in the dark and picked up in the dark.

When something big gets harvested, I stopped investing my efforts of believing them to be legal a long time ago. Not saying I accuse people of wrong doing, but it's easier to just say "good job" and move on, rather than invest the mental efforts in believing someone just to be let down. If you kill a big one, good for you, if you poach it, you get all that's coming to you. Too many times in my hunting life I believed, then heard the real truth, sometimes years later. Not worth the effort now
-
Once I read he used a crossbow, I’m thinking something’s up. And that he sold his bow, cmon you can work an extra job or something life can’t get that tough to sell your bow for quick cash. He made a lousy shot, lucked out on the recovery. It’s all bad. Hunters need to have clean ethics especially this day and age. My opinion. Follow the rules, regs, and laws and still kill a booner. That would be most manly.
-
Wow, so much to navigate when you tag a big deer. Then, to end up in trouble over it. Yikes!! I like to follow the rules, but it sounds way less complicated to just shoot small deer. Anyone on here ever get a bunch of offers for their large deer? It would be hard to let a deer go, even for the amounts of money they are talking.
-
Looks like trespassing.

My guess is that is not the only law broken but that is where it starts.
Such a shame. I can’t imagine how many people did the right thing and passed that buck because it was on property they couldn’t hunt, not in season or after hunting hours. Not saying this guy broke all of those rules but so many others followed all the rules and didn’t get to harvest that magnificent animal.
-
:yeah: Very unfortunate...
-
Some government office will have a nice mount in it now.

The pair met at the property the next morning and began their search.
As the two stood there, Haunert saw Alexander glance over his shoulder toward the ponds and do a double take. Haunert’s eyes followed Alexander’s gaze to where a white belly and mass of antlers lay beside one of the ponds.
If they found the buck the next morning, why are the field photos at night?

You'll never hear the truth.
Even if you heard the truth, you'd never know it 💯.
That's how this stuff works out.

Passed many a big animal myself
In somebody’s yard :chuckle: :chuckle:
Not too proud of yard deer
