I just set up my new bow with the trophy taker drop away rest which I have on my old bow but this new bow has pretty big cams and so the string moves faster at the end of my draw which makes the rest basically pop up right at the end and if I don't draw real careful the arrow will pop off the rest. Anyone know what I mean or have any ideas? I like the rest but am worried if it happens while practicing in the backyard its sure to happen under pressure of a big bull at 2o yards. I'm sure as I get used to the bow it won't be as bad. I have an 06Bowtech Tribute that I loved but this new Admiral is a sweet shooter! nwhunter

Try backing down your poundage slightly to make the draw through that hump a little easier.
-
never had mine do that, if i draw back fast it might, my rest is on a x force
-
Its really hard to the TT not to do that on the Bowtech's...it works good on other bows just not the Bowtech's and some of the newer Martins....I would look at the Limb Driver...or a QAD..
-
I have an 09 martin firecat and my rest does the same thing ? I need a different rest so if you find a solution let me know.
-
I did its call a Limb Driver or QAD rest

I have had the QAD HD pro for over a year and love it, best of both worlds for hunting, a fall away capture rest that keeps the arrow contained even when your not at full draw, what more can you want???

thanks, xXx Archery I will read the whole thread next time
-
thanks guys may have to change my rest. nwhunter

One thing you might want to also try is move the nock point slightly higher than your rest. This puts a slight amount of downward pressure on the rest as you draw back so your arrow wont pop up as easily. I'd try that first before you invest money into a new rest. :twocents:

I have the same. I had the TT for years till I found the QAD. I have installed the TT on the firecat with same problems. The cams turn over so hard, that its tough to keep the arrow on the TT

Your rest must be different model than my trophy taker.... if I'm understanding you correctly I don't believe that could happen with the model I have (caged). The fork on the little arm is really wide and essentially creates a tight fit within the cage so there's no way for the arrow to pop off or not be on it.
You may wanna call TT and see if they have any means to address it.

You can increase the arrow's downward pressure on the rest and probably solve your problems fairly easily. Try putting a brass nock point ( or tie in the equivalent thickness of serving material) between your arrow and the bottom knot of the D-Loop; you'll have to slide the D-Loop knot down some or re-tie it. This causes the D-Loop to be off-centered in relation to the arrow, so the V of the string at full draw will be slightly lower than the arrow. This puts a tiny bit more of the arrow on the top of the arrow and will hold the arrow down even if the rest seems to bounce up as it hits full draw.

I stayed with the trophy taker and it works pretty good now. The string that makes the tt operate was served into my bowstring to high and was making it pop up. I was told by several people its critical to have the tt string the right length and served in at the correct height to make it work right which proved to be true. Still have to be careful when drawing over the hump which is pretty harsh on the admiral cmpared to my tribute I think but it does shoot sweet. Thanks for all the comments and advice. nwhunter

Sometimes its actually a little pinch at the nock point if u use a d-loop i would ensure there is just a little wiggle room with the arrow nock, too tight and it will cause that issue.
-
My TT is money...I dont think Ill ever change :dunno:
-
Ya they are bullet proof. I'm not giving mine up either
-
How does the TT work in the woods? Do your arrows stay on well all of the time? In brush, etc.? I shoot a biscuit just because I know that it is in the right position but am wondering if I should try something else.
-
I've had thousands of shots on a TT and only ever dropped one arrow and that was when my serving wore out and the nock wouldn't clip onto the string. Ive never dropped one in the field.
-
I also would not change either. I am sold on the TT
-
I've had two trophy takers and they both were great. I switched to a drop zone, just on a whim, and like it even better, but have nothing bad
to say about the TT that's for sure. :twocents:

i've not had any problems with my TT either...
