Did anybody see the show on Discovery last night about the wild pig problem last night? Mostly focused on the South and Texas showing how the feral pig population has exploded in the last few years and how smart they are getting. Pretty interesting watching.
They mentioned that there are 40 states that have feral pigs.....does Washington?

supposedly over by Spokane but I think its on private prop

was a good show

good for them. there having pig explosion. but you have to pay $450.00 to kill one in texas mainly. people are profiting from it.Rick :yike:
-
And that is what I do not understand, these people are crying saying they are destroying everything and want them gone. I had 7 guys last year ready to go on a Texas hunt and we could not even get a discount. I can understand making a profit but for petes sake have a little business sense when running one.

Same thing in California. I just can't see myself paying all that $$ for a feral pig.
-
they all complain about all the rooting and damage. but you cant do it for free. just never made no scense to me. use to want to do it. but the cost was just to much. Rick :)

I buy a pig every year and have it butchered 220lb Pig cut and wrapped for $450, late last year I decided that I wanted to go on a guided hunt in Northern Cali for wild feral pigs, I have always wanted to go pig hunting until I found out what the prices those guys down there wanted for a single pig, guided only hunt for 1 pig $750 not including license and tag, license and tag = $210 :yike:, maybe I'm a cheap ass?, that's a $1000 dollars for one pig that's not even butchered yet.

:)I have read about public land hunts in California, Know nothing about it and I aint going to california anyway.

I would jump on that offer.
-
Littlebuf, I would jump on that if I were you, you might even want to invite someone like myself

i honestly had no clue guys were trying to get big money for pigs. im calling my buddy tomorrow and get the particulars. now how do i bring this up to the wife and make it seem like it was her idea hmmmm...
-
I watched the show, pretty crazy how the population has boomed. Those prices seem pretty steep if those pigs are causing as many problems that they say they are
-
ya I have friend in Alaska that married a bunny hugger that has family land in Northern California with a pig problem. I asked about going there but was told no because they want to either see if they can relocated or euthanized!!!!! Holy crap can you believe this. I told him that and he just rolled his eyes and said it was her land and not his or the situation would be 100% different.

Little its all about the bacon!!!! Just bring it up how it would be nice to smoke and make your own bacon. And lead her down the path until she wants to try it also
-
hmmmmm bacon....
-
yeah, they first aired it a few months back actually...I went to California in may and was thinking about going on a hunt..between non resident hunting license and tag I would have been out of just under $200.00...had access to a bunch of land..just couldnt afford it...:(

You guys arent even counting the trophy fees if you shoot what they consider a trophy, which in most cases is not hogzilla size, just a good size hog. Then you have to figure what it costs to transport that meat from texas or wherever to Washington. I know some guys that just went to texas on a deer and hog hunt hunt and shot a few nice bucks but go screwed with trophy fees and then had almost a thousand bucks into flying the meat back.

We used to hunt hogs around santa barbara area .but the farmers figure out they could rape us guys that use to help them out by whacking few every year.So we told them to hang in there south bound side an moved on.Much rather go down AZ and hunt there little pigs with a bow anyhow much more fun .
