Title: HSM Ammo
Post by: bowhunterforever on June 18, 2009, 09:11:27 PM: Any of you guys shoot or have you shot HSM ammo? It's way cheaper the the ammo i have been shooting and was wondering if it's good ammo/acurrate? I'm shooting it out of my 204 ruger. Thanks

It was almost cheaper for me to buy their ammo for my 30-378, pull the bullets and keep the brass than it was for me to buy new brass and new bullets and load my own.

Not sure how they do it.

It's the real deal.
I get extremely tight groups (almost one hole) using their 223 ammo with premium bullets.
Their prices on HD handgun are amazing. Speer golddots for about the price of the bullets, alone.
I buy HSM or BlackHills bluebox, exclusively.

At the time I was shooting at an indoor range and it was almost like shooting black powder! Maybe not that bad but definitely noticeable.

These were .38 spl loads. I haven't purchased any other HSM loads other then .223 and have never shot those so take it for what it is.

It was accurate though.

Post by: MountainWalk on June 22, 2009, 07:19:27 PM: I have only used their .41 rem mag rounds. I was pretty pleased with it. If I can remeber right, they were cast loads. Shot decently. 12 bucks for 50 out in Chimicum, but that was prolly 4 years ago.

Going to try some of their 300WM later this year.

Only trouble I had was that they were hard to get all the way into the cylinder when loading. Acted like the last 1/4'' of the brass was a little swollen. Once I got them crammed in, they shot well and the brass ejected normally.
