I have been looking at .22 pistols. Leaning toward the Ruger markIII.
I ran a search on here for the Browning Buckmark and came up empty. Does anyone on here have any experience with the Browning?
Looking for any feedback pro or con. I am not looking for people just promoting a brand. Just honest feedback.
Thanks

Brownings are a well made quality pistol. They are also accurate. You would be happy with either. The rugers have a lot more aftermarket accesories. Go hold both and see which feels better to you. :twocents:

Buddy of mine has one of the new Rugers... it shoots pretty well, but the trigger is kind on schitty. Between the two I've had good and bad experiences with both... either way it'd be worth the extra $100 to have one tuned up if you're looking to shoot it a lot. My brother has an old S&W Model 41... that's a bad ass .22 pistol... but they're also about $950.

I just got a Buckmark Camper second hand to partner with the two Rugers I have.
The Rugers are both very accurate, but needed some upgrades to the triggers to really shine.
The Buckmark has a better trigger and is very accurate.
Not sure why it doesn't function 100%.
Need more time with it.

Good info. Keep it coming.

2 of my buddies have them... They are pretty accurate and don't have problems jamming.... I like the way it fits in your hand...

Have not shot mine enough to give you a detailed review but I do like it, very accurate for me, I just mainly bought it for grouse and for the kids to shoot. If you do a search on the buckmark for this sight I had posted the same question a few months back.http://hunting-washington.com/smf/index.php/topic,19279.msg222790/topicseen.html#msg222790 Not sure if this link will work but here it is.

I have two Buckmarks, a Camper and a Target with the 5.5 barrel. Both shoot great, even with the cheap stuff. I cant think of a failure to feed and I have shot them quite a bit. The triggers are the difference and I also feel that the buckmark, especially the Target, points well.

I have been thinki9ng of buying a semi auto .22 for awhile myself and still cant quite decide but I can tell you Ive owned several rugers and theyre generally accurate but a total bitch to disassemble. the brownings I am not sure of in this department. the ruger to my eye is better looking but the browning fits my hand way better :dunno: the brownings are generally a tad cheaper but the ruger comes with 2 mags :dunno: so there you go :chuckle:

Which do you prefer. The target or camper model??

The Target model has molded grips and shoots maybe a little bit better for me. The downside of the grips is that they aren't kid friendly and are right hand only. It also has a rail so it easily accepts a scope.
The Camper has smaller grips so it is more kid and wife friendly.
The Camper is just that, great for camping and it also is my wife's backup in the house as it is easy to handle and functions flawless even with the cheap stuff.
To answer the question, there is a reason I have both but if I were to sell one I would sell the Target model.

I have had My Buckmark for a long time and Love it.Shot alot of fur with it When I was A Nuisance wildlife trapper. You will love it if You get it.

Thanks for the replys. I'm looking into these alot now.

I am a Bullseye shooter and have owned and shot both the Buckmark and MkII's Like others have stated, out of the box the Buckmark will have the nice trigger, both are accurate. But IMO it depends on what you want it for. I switched to the MkII since I could trick it out the way I wanted for Bullseye competition. I NEVER had reliability issues with the Buckmark, but nor have I had any with a STOCK MkII. IMO if you are just looking for a plinker and don't plan on doing much to it, I think the Buckmark is a hard pistol to beat!! But either way you can't go wrong.

Depends on how much you want to spend also. I went through the same dilemma. I settled on a mark111 22/45 hunter. I also had the Volquartsen MKIII 22/45 Accurizing Kit Installed. The Buckmark has a better factory trigger. Both are well made. Here is mine.

For what I'm after. Plinking and small game hunting. The Browning sure sounds like a good choice. I don't mind the cost of the Ruger, but why not save some $$$
While the Ruger has more to offer in aftermarket accessories. I only need a holster. I don't have a need to do alot of mods. to a .22 to fit my bill :)
