I’ve heard there is a store or two with big mounted methow valley bucks on the walls. I’m visiting for a few days and would love to see them. Seems like a hardware store maybe had a bunch but can’t remember.

Three Fingered Jacks has some nice bucks on their walls, don’t know if they’re local bucks or not. Same with 6 Point saloon in Twisp.
Yeah the hardware store has some nice stuff, just don’t know where they came from.
Just read 6 Point saloon is permanently closed

Yep, lots of trophy stuff from Canada, and around the world. Definitely a must see.👍

Just had lunch at three fingered jacks, a couple good ones there

There are two monsters up at Sun Mountain Lodge in the hallway that I think were taken by Victor Moss back in the day.

Yep, those are from Canada, still cool to look at.

I’ll check out hanks, saw a beautiful 4x4 knee deep snow just off the road, he was a nice one.

Correct. Most of the mounts including the mule deer were harvested by Vic. He was a great guy👍

Dewey, what store did he have up in Winthrop? I used to sit there and listen to stories while Dad delivered fuel or something. He didn’t care that I was just a little kid. He had a non typical that hung above his door that just captivated me.
Yes three fingered Jacks are local bucks. Pretty much killed by one cowboy.

Original owner of the Outdoorsman. He hunted a lot with Dan Montgomery and Bob Maves.

Vic was sort of a child hood hero of mine. I met him on my birthday when I was maybe 10 and we happened to have the same birth date. I was there to by BBs for my BB gun. I told him I wanted to be a big game hunter some day and that peaked his interest real quick. I went in to that store a few times per year up until he died mostly just to shoot the stuff. It's too bad because around the time he died is when he started telling me to come with him on a hunt. I would have loved that. I took some family up to Sun Mountain several days ago to have a drink in the bar and I had to stop and marvel at those two bucks. Both absolutely gigantic in my opinion. Based on the mounts, it looks like one was a rut buck and the other a general season based on the neck size.

Ah, the Outdoorsman. Thank you

Outhouse, are you from the Methow?

At Hanks, non of the bucks are from WA. most from Canada, a few from Colorado and Wyoming

I wish! No, I grew up in Yakima and have lived in Cowiche since coming back after college etc. However, my parents started taking me up there when I was around five years old. We started by camping all over the place, then they bought a lot near Winthrop. Then they sold it and bought a piece out in Mazama. Just a great place that I've visited a lot my entire life.

Yep! The “Ranch” is different, Rendevous still holds a nice buck or two. Times gone by..
Hard work, no TV, and outside more then inside. I think we lived through the best years up there👍

Hey bone, old Tom Graves had a big bugger hanging above his favorite chair, that dang thing was HUGE, I remember my buddy and me stopping in to say hi many years ago. One of those you “see in your sleep”😉👍

WE sure did!! :hello:
Sad to see it turning into a mini Seattle/LA/Portland

I played with two bigs today. Fun to film. I was going to head to Twisp, but wasn’t excited for the icy drive. Not sure now that all my snowshoeing haunts are close until May 1.

:yeah: It’s turning into “Liberalville” for sure. I can’t believe the number of Biden/Harris signs that were out this past year, heck some folks are still proudly displaying them.
There’s a few on here that remember the hay days of this valley, you timberfaller as well as mountainman, bone, MAX, myself and a few others I’m sure, back when there was hunter friendly residents, wide open spaces, cowboys, an actual Game Department and a herd that was second to none. All those things are dwindling and will continue to I fear.
I’ve posted a few pictures in the past, I’ll dig through and see if I can get permission to post a few of my sons along with a couple more of mine, they could be duplicates from past posts, who knows.

Always enjoy your pictures!

"It is “Liberalville” for sure." Fixed it for ya bigmacc!
The "snitch list" during covid proved it was finally turned! Couldn't believe "who" turned in Hank!! A real sic bunch!
