Title: Arrows
Post by: Buck_stalker on June 22, 2009, 06:03:06 PM
I am hooked on archery to say the least.lol and my friend's dad gave me a
MT-3 Martin Ocellot. The old ones. Like from the '70's I believe, and I've been practicing a lot in my back yard(it's 30 yds.) and I've been pretty consistent and deadly.

My question is, is it better to hunt with aluminum or carbon fiber arrows?

OOOH I'll be hunting Blacktails for sure, and maybe some elk. :IBCOOL:

Both arrows have killed thousands of animals and you cant go wrong with either.  Carbon seems to be the new wave and in my humble opinion a better option.

The biggest advantage to carbon arrows (IMHO) is that if they are straight when you buy them, they remain straight until you break them.  Aluminum arrows will bend with simply pulling from the target or repeated shots.  Carbon is stiffer and lighter allowing better penetration than does aluminum arrows.  With their popularity today, many good brands are even less expensive than aluminum.

Carbon. When I was learning i messed around with my uncles crappy old aluminum's forever trying to make them straight and stuff like that. I finally just spent the 34 dollars for 6 Beman ICS Hunters and man it was the best money i've spent as far as archery goes. :twocents:
