We hit the pins today and caught a few, man there is a tone of fish swimming under and all around the boat, pretty good fishing and a whole lot of people even for a wednesday. We released a few and brought home a few, mostly on black flys and rooster tails.Ive got a 12foot columbia is that enough boat for there.

ya if u launch between the pens its only 1/2 mile or so either way, we saw 12 footer there today, conoes and even some pontooners.sweet thanks

Great lookin mess o fish. All praise to Pacific sea foods for their unplanned release of 32,000 Triploids a couple of weeks ago. Great to see that you got the boy out on the water. He'll remember it all his life.
Very nice fish, what patterns in flies work? Leach maybe?
I've been fishin my version of a Barbless Trout Pellet Fly and catch & releasing upwards of a hundred fish per trip in the last couple of weeks.

I was only told "got out." It happens quite often, usually due to logs that rip the net.. Im not sure though, maybe they were "let out."

The pens go really deep! they are waaaayyy longer than they are round and those fish are stacked right on top of eachother......Ive been on some of the pens and some of them have fish that go into the 15 pound range!!! :yike:

I talked with a game warden at the corps boat launch the weekend after the recent accidental release of 32,000 Triploids in the four to six pound range by Pacific Seafood in the area around the upper pens. He confirmed that the number was 32,000. In the past the pens have had accidental releases with numbers upwards of 50,000 fish. The part of the pens that you see on the top of the water is only the top opening. If you can imagine a balloon shape with a small square cut into one side for access. Or imagine the pens being shaped like an iceberg…most of the size is under water. I'm sure you get the idea.
By the way...The fishing has been off the hook around the upper set of pens. The fish are staying suspended at 10 to 15 foot so the trick has been "Don't fish on the bottom."

I used a clear blue rapala shad rap #5... it dives down to about 10' I fished it about 75' back of the boat.:)

So...when ya coming to this side of the mountains??? My boats in the shop this weekend so I'm going to miss out a little. I've taken a couple days off at the end of this next week. Hopefully I can make up for lost time on the water.
