I fired a few bullets into several layers of water logged OSB plywood to see how they expand and penetrate.  These were all fired from 25 yards using a charge of 100g of triple 7. 

From left to right in the photo:

310g Knight all lead HP - penetrated 8.75” - expanded to .675” - recovered weight = 300.6g (97%)
300g .45 cal Sierra JSP - penetrated 11” - expanded to .514” - recovered weight = 285.7g (95%)
300g .44 cal Hornady XTP - penetrated 9.25” - expanded to .671” - recovered weight = 287.4g (96%)

Not exactly a scientific test but it gives a good idea of what to expect on the business end.
