I just wanted to post a shout out to the folks at Anglers Innovations for their amazing customer service. There was a glitch with their online sales program, but they made it right immediately, no hassles no issues. They sell maruto hooks. I’m trying their semi barbless hooks that are legal in Washington state. Seeing if there is a difference in lost fish with their hooks versus pinched barb hooks.

I use Maruto for sturgeon with an amazing hook to land ratio. Very nice, strong, sharp hook that's stupid easy to remove.

The Owner barbless have been very good to me and you can pick them up locally.

I use the maruto and it really does help, both the single and treble versions. Sportco sells them.

Curious, I looked up these hooks. Very interesting. I imagined sumpin similar years back. Anyone got info on why they hold but easy to remove?

I believe the beveled edge doesn't allow the hook to freely slide out like the true barb less does. They just seem to hold in the soft tissue better.

That’s why I am trying them this season. That cross hatch on the inside of the tip supposedly provides more grip/friction over the pinched barb. I also like the fact it keeps the coating intact rather than when the barb is pinched it creates a raw area where rust develops quickly. That and when the bite is on and I need to slap another lure on quickly I don’t have to remember to pinch the barb if I haven’t done it already.

I'm a sucker for new stuff, just ordered some to try out here shortly.
