For anyone who’s ever been interested in understanding how youth livestock show and sales work, or anyone interested in supporting these kids by bidding on their animals or sponsoring their projects, the Evergreen Youth Livestock Show board is holding an informational dinner on 7/16 Wednesday at 6pm in the 4-H building at the Evergreen State Fairgrounds in Monroe.
Any questions or anything, fire away!

These fair livestock sales are an amazing opportunity for a community to support hard working kids. My son put himself through college on 4-H money he earned. Our family has been doing this for years and the kids have gained so much. We have had as many as 4 steers and 6 hogs being raised at once. Never a dull moment around here.

That sounds really nice. Great idea to educate potential buyers and participants. This will be my son's last fair season as he will be a senior and probably to busy to show after graduation next spring. Kind of sad, but its been a lot of fun with the kids over the many years!

It’s been so fun. My daughter is done. She didn’t actually participate last year, but she was there every day helping the little kids and her club leader. Volleyball kind of took over her life. I retired from 4-H this year and this will be my last year helping with the livestock show. On to the next chapter.

Once had a district judge tell me he loved these things, never dealt with a kid with this background. Often a multi-generation thing like ours, my father, his kids, his grand kids and great grand kids participated. Boat load of scholarships for ag students too. Helping people that will feed you in the future is a good thing. If you can not make it to the Monroe event ask questions, glad to help.
