Road has been closed since June and doesn’t look like they are going to open for modern season
-
The fact that the pomas fire closure area is so big and still completely closed is crazy. That fire has been basically out for almost 2 months at this point...
-
Just wait.....the Chiwawa, Swakane and Entiat will all get closed due to the sugarloaf fire. :bash: :bash:

They currently have almost all of GMU 250 closed with a planned reopening date of December 31st. :bash:

I think the Entiat valley road is only open for local traffic. How well enforced I’m not sure but you’re right it won’t be long.

I am kind of hoping they keep the whole valley/area closed thru modern. We all know how low the deer population is up there, would be nice for the herd to get a break for 1 year.
-
Ya, I drove over 3 hours Saturday to go up that road just to find the gate closed 🤦♂️ :chuckle: oh well had a nice time with my daughter checking out some other area

The cub creek 2 fire was out by October 2021 and they still had huge road closures during my late hunt the following year in Nov 2022. Don't underestimate the FS :chuckle:

Ya the Deer have really diminished this year cell cams have been very quiet.
I am still going even if I am a hiker with a gun but ya it could use a year off

:yeah: The roads have to go through a process of risk assessment and after a winter and spring then be repaired if needed and dangerous trees removed from around roads, camps, trail heads, ect... Sometimes it takes years for an area to reopen after a major fire... Washouts are very common...

The issue with Pomas is……..that fire was alonggggg ways from any road. Yet the FC spent somewhere over $60 million “working” on “contingency” lines miles away from the fire AND any average person could have seen that fire was completely contained by rock surfaces….highly unlikely it would get to any of the CL.
Pretty sure a lot of that wasted money could have been put to better use on the current, more close to habitation, fires.
There is a reason they are referred to as the Forest CIRCUS!

I'm not typically a conspiracy theorist, but it certainly seems like this was a convenient excuse for them to shut down a large chunk of the forest and keep people from recreating there altogether.

Bunch of BS, the Pomas fire has been dead for a month or two and was/is going nowhere. Open the road to cottonwood and close access at wilderness boundary or snowbrushy if they are worried about trees/hazards and call it a day. The circus needs to quit babysitting people and milking the cow. What a waste of resources.

With the government shut down it doesn’t seem these national-forests roads will be opened up for modern. If they don’t have anyone to open them, will they have anyone to enforce closures?!?! Asking for a friend?
