Did anyone watch this episode on the outdoor channel?
Those deer sure love those apples! :chuckle:
-
:chuckle: still kinda cool our state made t.v.
-
I have never herd many positive things about that guy.
-
When was it on and did they kill a big buck?
-
when i heard spokane, i started paying attention to the show since i hunt near there, thats until i saw all the apples used for bait in those tall pines, lol. who can't do that.
it did make me wonder, because i don't know, i'm assuming its legal to bait deer if it made tv???
-
it is legal to bait deer.
that guy does enough high fence buffalo hunting with a .50 cal rifle to make me want to puke in my mouth.
-
he is from spokane. a good friend of mine used to film for the show.
his sons usually hit the 3d archery shoots around the area.
he has had the quinault bear hunts on that show a few times.

:bash: piece of work !

+1 i didn't want to be the first one to say it
-
i think it's fantastic how he shoots stuff living behind a fence from like a half mile away with a 50 cal.
true sportsman.

They ended up taking several nice bucks with bow equipment out of tree stands. At the beginning of the show, they showed the host with a dandy buck, but they didn't show the footage of the hunt. They definitely had the travel patterns of the deer figured out! :chuckle:
During the first hunt, you can see a bag of deer cocaine conveniently tucked inside a stump!
If that's what you have to do to get a huntin show on t.v., I won't be doing it anytime soon! :chuckle:
-
The show was on monday night.
-
And coulda been tucked away next to a road lol
-
I don't have a problem with baiting deer, but if you shoot a record buck doesn't it disqualify it from the P&Y book under the fair chase rule?
-
i dont think its disqualifying

No it does not disqualify it from the P&Y records book.

Shane, i think we have heard some of the same stories...
-
It never showed the host shooting a buck. It only showed the hosts son shooting a buck and the hosts sons friend shooting a buck. The show was okay. Nothing special. It was your typical white tail from a tree stand hunt. YAWN!!!
-
And coulda been tucked away next to a road lol
They were dragging all the bucks out, so a driveway or lodge couldn't have been far! Lol!
-
Shane(WA),
We've had our disagreements in the past but I know a guy on 31st and Glenrose and he said (the host, can't remember the name) asked if he could shoot the deer in the back yard. Actually he asked the wife, she said yes and then my buddy went out and said no. The guy was stalking a deer in the back pasture of this house. LOL!! I mean COME ON MAN!!! this is in a residential neighborhood. Is shooting a big deer really that important? I'd be ashamed of myself if I did that. Anyways just wanted to share that.
BTW, I saw the show and while it was kind of cool watching a hunt from Spokane it excited me about as much as the guys in Texas shooting deer at a feeder.

:yike:
I can imagine the audio of the kill scene on that one!
"Alright, as soon as he steps out from behind the swing set, take him! Oh and watchout for the dog-house!"
What a fu--- joke! >:(

I know, I was floored when I heard that. He introduced himself as the host of the show and asked if he could do it. But there??? Geez. I drive that road a lot for work and there are some monster bucks but they are basically tame. They just lay around in peoples yards all day long. Another friend lives about 1/2 mile from there and had two big bucks fight in his front yard. They just tore the hell out of his newly seeded lawn. He went out to shoo them off and one pawed the ground like a bull getting ready to charge. :chuckle: :chuckle:
I guess whatever floats your boat but if you actually shoot a deer there it's defintely become more important to tag a buck than it is to enjoy the whole hunting experience.
P.S. I don't think he had a camera crew. Seems like my buddy said he was alone.

Totally agree!
Lol! That's funny he didn't have a camera crew with him...Even he knew he'd get a bunch of sh-t if the footage would have been aired!
If that's what an individual has to do to kill a big buck, I believe they've lost sight of what this sport is about.

I posted a while ago about this moron. His name is Jim Burnsworth. The show is a joke. He shoots a 30-378 weatherby with a 130 xlc bullet going 4100 fps. He thinks it is so coooool. What a moron. Can you imagine the damage at that velocity. He also likes to hunt drugged up elk behind fences.
The first buck they shot was eating apples in the pines, there was another one eating corn or some yellow powder. I hope he reads these post and realizes what a pile he is.
He is a piss poor representation of a hunter and the sad part is, his kids are not going to be much better with him as a role model.

thats funny right there.
-
Lol! After reading through some of those posts on archery-talk, it looks like several individuals have begun to boycott Western Extreme's sponsor's!
-
Im down the street from 31st, I have seen some nice deer in teh a.m. eating flowers in the neighborhppd. Not my kind hunt. :chuckle:
-
he is the scum on the bottom of scum!
-
Hahaha. His kid shot that buck and turns around and says. "well he stopped just long enough for me to get a shot off at him." FUnny thing was the deer had his head down licking the dirt! :bash:
-
Kinda of like the Texas hunt. As soon as the feeder kicks on you see deer, turkey and hogs charging in. Kind of like ringing a bell. Then the hunter get confused as to which buck they will shoot. I would hate to have that issue. It takes them a long time to get a shot off as they don't want to shoot 6 deer with one shot. Good stuff.
-
Chris,I havent heard the story, i watched it :chuckle:
Gutpile, yeah this guy is something else, I was floored watching this last season. couldnt imagine doing that
-
Well this one's starting to taper off...Who can we crucify next?! :chuckle:
-
I'd love to bait a deer this fall. I think maybe old donuts and fruit with bacon grease. Deer like bacon don't they. Have all this next to a nice swamp. Renew it twice a week until august. :P  ;)
-
I think I'm smellin' what you're steppin' in! :chuckle:
