Title: Elk antler growth
Post by: coldsteel3d on July 07, 2009, 07:21:58 PM
So guys I have been trying to find a little info on how long and how much more an elk will be growing his antlers. Say I saw a bull this weekend that would already score 300+, how much more do you guys think he will grow and about when do they quit growing. I just thought maybe some of you would know.

Not too much, the big bulls will start rubbing in early august . What you see now is going to be pretty close to what he will be, Im sure he will put on a few inches here and there though.

I have seen big bucks around home here with velvet still on during the first week of archery.  I'd say around the first week or so of september.

Whiteatails around here are done growing by mid august, pretty much what u see in late july is what you are getting in antler size, maybe a inch or two.
