Title: ocean shores
Post by: trapperguy22 on July 11, 2009, 05:55:01 PM
Anybody ever surf perch fish or jetty fish out of ocean shores? Or crab from shore there somewhere. I have some freinds coming from out of town this week and we rented a place in ocean shores for next weekend just looking for something to do outdoors. Thanks for the help!!

i'm no expert, but i've heard the best way to catch them is to first go out to the beach at low tide and look for points and troughs in the sand.  remember them(a gps helps), those are where you want to fish at high tide.

a medium/medium heavy steelhead rod works pretty good, set it up with two 12" 20# leaders coming off your mainline(heavy line so they will stick out to the side and not tangle) to #4 hooks, and add a 1-3oz pyramid sinker at the bottom.  bait up with sand shrimp, sand worms or clam necks and toss it out there.  if you aren't getting bit, move spots until you do, they aren't picky fish.
