Was curious if anyone knows, does using a fall away rest take away the problem of having a short brace height? My understanding was that having the short distance(brace) in the last part of the shot was what effected the arrow flight leaving the bow. I would think that with the fall away there is no arrow to rest contact upon release so that takes away the whole issue of short (read finicky) vs long (read forgiving) brace. Is this a sound theory?

Yeah, I've got an opinion.....always.
Brace height is a measured quantity dependant on the bow...but not the rest. The position of the rest as it just starts to fall is the controlling factor; it could theoretically be possible to control a 4" brace height as easily as an 8" brace height, but it's not practical in our hands. The longer it is between the string and the rest the better for forgiveness. Exaggerate this to the extreme and consider a rest that sits only 1" from the string at rest. The arrow has to be pointed somewhere, and the bow hand controls the torque of this "somewhere". If the bow hand is torqued very hard one way or the other, then the arrow will be pointed in that direction before it is launched. The blades on the broadhead will try to steer the arrow in that direction. With a drop away rest, this torque is downgraded a bit, but it still matters...a bunch. I can torque my bow to miss by 6" at 30 yards without trying too hard. This was the entire dilemna of the overdraw decision about 20 years ago.

No ...if so you would see more PRO shooters shooting drop away rest.
In Vegas this year 16 shooters shot 900 only ONE was shooting a drop away rest
one more thing to think about..is draw lenght and brace height
shooter 1 has a draw lenght of 28" with a 6" brace hieght = 22" power stroke
shooter 2 has a draw lenght of 30" with a 7" brace hieght = 23" power stroke
the arrow is on the string 1" more for shooter 2
there is more to what makes a bow finicky than brace hieght

thanks guys
