The official photographer took the day off so photos suck but here they are. One fat pig at 50", one that almost went in the boat at 56" and the one we knew wasn't legal at about 7 foot....... And of course Tmike hard at work.... And so far CIRCLE hook rock, not a miss yet on the rod that has those hooks, all are getting switched here soon to them...

How are you fishing the sturgeon hooks for sturgeon? :dunno: Just curious, I've heard people trying it with success. Do you let the fish go at the bait til it hooks itself?

Took a 6/0 circle hook and tied a snelled to it, baiting it is a little difficult, but the Sturgeon haven't complained about it not being pretty.... An old guy spent ten minutes showing me how to tie, he was real careful about making sure every strings was perfect and the smelt/anchovies=vie was super pretty and perfect. He showed me it then put on the floor of the boat and stepped on it and said, the Sturgeon don't give a crap what it looks like, they like the smell and the only way to get the smell out better is to squeeze on onto the hook as much as possible with magic strings.... :chuckle: :chuckle: Rigging it the same way as J hooks but the anchovies are a little twisted and not straight like on the J's. Shrimp, heck, never notice the difference between rigging it. We'll see when I move up river in Longview area if it makes a difference, so I must complete more testing.. :chuckle:
