anyone on here hunted the eagle cap wilderness for deer?
If so, how was it?
I've spent some time in there but this is the first year I'll be hunting it.

I've pondered it. Its probably where I would go for OTC hunting in Oregon with my bow. You can still outleg the folks in there. You are comfortable withthe Blues so could get around in it fairly well I am sure. Its become a bit more popular since Cameron Haines hit the scene.

Ill be in there for 10 days come sept, are you hunting riffle or bow. got a buddy that took a 32 6x5 muley out of this spot in 05, and a 290'' 6x6 bull opening week end last year. I can put another on the wall this year

Big rough country if you are over by the Hells Canyon side. I have seen some bruiser bucks but again...big rough country. Kinda like the Pasayaton on steroids.

I spoke to guy that hunted it last year for elk, they hunted crescent lk area, about 10 miles in, they both got their elk,but he said the muley bucks they saw were amazing.

I went in two years ago on a drop camp , the outtfitter was terrible , managed to kill a nice buck , the elk in our area where non existant , we hunted hard for a week and saw one elk. the outtfitter moved our camp due to fires that year, I'm sure If we would have been on the east end it would have been much better .

Who was the outfitter?
i'm not using one, just curious

here's a good buck just outside the eagle cap wilderness.

That's the garbage can buck! LOL
I'd take one like that in a minute if I could hold steady enough to get a shot off.

i don't think he'd be going anywhere in a hurry...someone's surely bringing him lunch at any minute.

I was just at wilowa lake this Mon/Tues. There are some nice deer there! Jakelope i have quite a few pictures just like the one you shared. my wife got a pic of me feeding a pretty nice 5 point. If you want to go see some good horns but sick deer that is the place to go. They are not healthy, the ones around the camp, because they eat everybody camp food. I feed them grass! It is beautiful country down there and i have seen some very nice deer while driving around.
