Wow... Thought this would stir some discussion....
-
Wow, and I thought I had spoke with some uniformed people about wildlife. That person needs to get a clue.
-
These are the people out there that want to regulate our hunting. Or rather take it away....
And now they are working on a state level instead of a national level.....
-
Sounds like a high school report to me
-
Yep, elk, bear, cougar and wolves, all coexist, and kiss each other goodnight every evening before their last meal of granola.... once again the ignorance and stupidity of "feelings of utopia" vs. the real world of survival and death. Just think, the author Ann might consider running for mayor or governor.
:mgun:

but what about the poor plants whose life is trajically and brutally cut short by the teeth of the elk. why should the elk get a happy life when the grass has to suffer like that? :bdid:
hahaha that is what we will read next. some people suck at life.
oh ya and the elk has a plenty happy life on my wall...

"in contrast to promoting stalking and killing them, which of course causes them great distress and disruption of their normal lives" quoted by D-bag
The guy does have a point: Last time I stalked and killed an elk, it caused that spike some distress, and it definately disrupted his day to day activities.
-
Reading the indymedia site makes me want to put a fork in my eye...... and I actually like alternative viewpoints and thinking...but that site ...wow...
-
:puke:

Give me a break Ann. Guys, I graduated from an environmental college with this type of mentality all around me and know it well. It was bunny hugger-central! Most of my classmates were clueless to the realities of today's natural ecosystems. Too bad this type of misinformation, and mythical science is what most of the public sees and relies on. :(

"some people suck at life."
Bullblaster, that's awesome...been laughing about that for 5 min.
-
did you guys read the very last comment? mmmmmmmmm meat good, lol!
-
When I hear things as stupid as that it makes me embarrassed to be a human.
-
:o Yikes... Thanks for posting, Hunt. I hate reading things like this, but I guess it is good to know how a lot of people think. I agree with Grizzly, it does sound like a high school report, as do most alternative 'news' articles.

Also from that site: This has been a really long road for Tre and he could really use our love, light, and healing energy. Tre is aware this is happening and he will be receiving the energy at 5:45pm. If you cannot make it to Mt. Tabor, please still send him positive energy at 5:45pm wherever you are
I don't think a lot of people take these guys seriously.

Holy elk *censored* Batman! That was beyond off the wall. Then again it is Portland indymedia. People there believe in chemtrails and other crazy *censored*.
-
wow 25 year old elk i never herd of a elk living 25 years in the wild even in captivity that is quite a stretch some real misinformation in this report.
-
probably will do no good but I had to comment on the article:
As others have stated actual fish and wildlife management is paid for by hunters and fishers. The State Fish and Wildlife Departments are funded by hunter and fishers who who have provided the funding through license purchases and taxes on hunting/fishing equipment to fund management of all species.
Additionally for those who don't know, there are two different species of elk in Oregon and Washington. Rocky Mountain elk on the eastside and Roosevelt on the westside. President Theodore Roosevelt (a hunter) started Yellowstone Park and the national park system to insure animals wild places forever. Elk from Yellowstone were used to re-establish herds on the eastside of WA/OR. The roosevelt elk are native elk that have flourished under modern management and now are more numerous than anytime in modern history.
So even if you are a non-hunter, the next time you are viewing elk or photographing bald eagles, remember, hunters and fishers paid for the management of these species as well, and we don't mind doing it for future generations to enjoy wildlife. Unlike the anti-hunter crowd, we put our money to work for the benefit of wildlife instead of putting it into hate campaigns aginst McDonalds or Red Lobster, or attacking medical research facilities.
If you want to truly help wildlife donate your money to your Fish and Wildlife Department.
Respectfully Yours

well spoken, i wish i got a better grade in writing class. i would probably write some good stuff up like that... yup, im pretty sure i would!
-
These people are :mor: and really make me >:(.
-
I looked back later and they never allowed my message on the board....doesn't that figure.........
-
These same people want more wolves as well....... I wonder how they contribute to the "happiness" of elk and other wildlife? As mentioned previously, what morons!
Personally, I think that anyone that eats meat, wears leather, uses shampoo or gets any kind of medical treatment that was ever tested on animals, and complains about hunting is a hypocrite. But hey, I guess I am an animal hating extremist!
