Has any one hunted this area for deer or elk in the past? This area looks like it might be a good one for the late hunt. Also any info on where to get a good map of this area. Thanks.

The "Burn" is a great place to hunt deer. It is heavily road hunted during modern, and access to the westside during anytime other than modern is foot/bike traffic only. Gates are usually closed and they monitor the roads/traffic. That being said, lots of 2x2 and spikes running around. I have taken a 4x4, which I have mounted on the wall. Everyone in my family has taken several bucks out of this unit and we usually see 8-12 deer per day. They have been logging it since the 70's, so plenty of old and new clear cuts. Lots of brush and lots of up hill walking.
Unless you have a private land owner willing to give you a call when the elk are down, or you have vast knowledge of the area, elk will be very difficult to find. Although there is a serious bear issue brewing in the burn.
Everytime I bring someone new to hunting with me, the first place I take them is the "burn". Never an issue seeing deer, and it is "rookie hunter friendly".
