Title: 2 Very Hot Days.
Post by: Huntbear on August 05, 2009, 06:07:25 PM
My brother and I went up early Monday morning, and spent 2 days looking for bear, at about 4,000 ft.  The huckleberries are on big time, and we have seen lots of bear sign in years past.  We tried calling(not sure we are doing that right), spot and stalking the meadows, and berry fields.  Not one bear or fresh sign.  We did run across fresh bobcat tracks, cougar tracks, and seen a bunch of elk (usually right at dark).
We did kill about 1000 mosquitoes, and about 600 flies.  Got sunburned, and slightly dehydrated, but had a ton of fun.

Question for the guys calling.  What kind of calls are you using?  What sound works best?  Any help or hints will be great.  As much as I would love a couple of the custom calls that are available here, not in the budget right now.

Thanks Rasbo, we were hunting the cooler draws and meadows, and several times, heard something in the brush, very close by, whether it was a deer, or bobcat or what, could not be sure.

Of course this weekend they are saying rain, and very cool temps for this time of year,  :bash: :bash:

The call we were using was more of a rabbit in distress call, we are going to be looking for a couple of new calls for the next trip up.
