What is the top LEGAL muzzle loaders you all are shooting?? I sold my bow and am hunting black powder again this year and getting a new toy.
Any thoughts??

I picked up a Traditions Pursuit NW for $259.00 at Bi Mart in Yakima. I shot it this weekend for the first time, after adding Tru-Glo sights on it. I put the sights on with a little help from my machinist friend, as the were supposed to fit on but required an additional hole to actually work.
I was grouping touching holes/single holes on the first 3 shot volley. High and Right, so I adjusted and shot another cloverleaf closer and closer until I had it deadnutz. Then moved the action out to 100 yrds and was, surprisingly, still on point of aim but the groups opened up to 6 inches. All this with Hornady XTP 300 gr Magnums .452, and 100grains of 777 fffg. And using Traditions brand Sabots (I think they are MMB's EZ Load)
I believe that if I had a scope mounted on there, that I'd be getting sub MOA groups at 100 and possibly beyond. But, the ghostring Tru-Glo sights don't afford much of a sight picture for a "dot" at that range. For hunting accuracy, I'm sure the gun is capable beyond what I can shoot, but I'm limiting my shots to sub 100 yrds regardless.

Any tradition TC Hawkens or Renegades are also legal. TC Black Diamond also....in line.
Other.....some of the Traditions, CVA's etc.

I am under the same time constraints, 2 kids and not as much time to hunt/ and the freezer is runnin low.
What about quality, and accuracy of these, I am doing my research but would love some input.

I would like to add White Rifles are also legal in this state in fact all of the models are. The company is no longer producing rifles, but you can still many around. I happen to own more than a dozen.
Accuracy is outstanding with these, all of mine whether .410, .451. .504 or .540 will shoot 2" or less at 100 yards. As will many other other brands if you take the time and effort to work up loads with differant powder, bullet combo's. You will find one or two combonations that will make your Muzzle Loader the envy of any Modern shooter at the range.
I took a Bear this last Friday with one of my .504 Cal's shooting a 510gr conical over 80gr T7fffg dropped in his tracks at 75 yards.
Keep yer powder dry!

Very true there are many sidelock rifles that are legal. I would think all of the side locks are legal.
I have seen some truly incredible side lock rifles, and many are accurate out to 100 yards.
