OH MY GOD. I love the first rain in the late summer. The temps felt like fall yesterday, cool in the shade but hot in the sun. That dry end of summer feel, then this rain right now. i wrote about this last year. I seriously could get high off this smell. hmmmmmmmmmmm The elk hunters ought to be happy as hell having this rain hit the ground. All those wallows will be prime in about a week.

You know it. I almost had an org..... when it started raining. Not really but you all know how it is. When your entire hunt hinges on the timber co's keeping their gates open. Felt pretty darn good to see it rain. Come on rain. In fact it is raining still at my place. :whoo:

I've definitely noticed a little something in the air with these cooler temps, even in the Tri-City's. From here on out my production at work is going to suffer, oh well.

this morning was a good feeling..lips will be curling before long

I was up in the mountains yesterday evening at around 5,500 feet. Definately cooled off tons and I had fog rolling in and out of the berry fields. Huckleberry bushes were starting to turn colors. Felt great. Wont be long before the bears are moving 24/7 and the Bulls start getting territorial. Love it.

Last thursday and friday it rained over an inch and a half at our Idaho place. Man was that ever welcome! I saw where the Salmon River in Idaho was flowing about 6500cfs on Aug 6 and by Aug 8 it spiked up to about 9300cfs after those thunderstorms that blew through! Should be some good late season kayaking/rafting this weekend. :IBCOOL:
We are much farther north near Bovill but still that 1.5+" sure wet the woods and smelled great.

I love that smell as well! I was above 5000 feet this weekend and it definitely felt and smelled like fall. Here is a few pictures illustrating the weather (I apologize for the photo quality). We also happened to run into 4 elk (2 at 8:45am and 2 at 10:45am) and they were all out feeding enjoying the break in the weather.

Cooler weather on its way here this week, 60's friday :)

Thank the lord!

liquid sunshine :chuckle: couldn't come at a better time the woods around here were pretty dry.....come on rain
-
It certainly helps put a damper on fire season and makes it unlikely for September closures.
-
Its about time! just need more of it so the ground can get spongy

I love the rain and cool temps for my elk hunting. But the rain sucks for my sage brush mule deer hunting. For that I want hot temps and lots of sunshine. Deer gotta go to the two water holes in the area more often. Instead right now there's about 50 of them. :bash: I'm an elk hunter first and foremost so bring on the rain and cool temps :)

happy days are here again!

Watched a real nice public land 5x5 hearding around the cows last night  I'm getting the itch!

It's in the air. Game on. :)

I've definitely noticed a little something in the air with these cooler temps,
Don't turn the A/C off yet, another hot one coming next week they say.
-
It sure smelled like fall waking up on the mountain this morning.... The fog was rolling in and out.
-
we went salmon fishing and slept on the boat so we didnt have to screw with the launch in the morning. The water tempurature was warmer than the air and we got soaked from all the condensation from the two climate differences.
I smell it coming

My buddy and I were discussing this yesterday. We came to the conclusion that we are starting to rut. I think we are turning into elk... :chuckle:
